Thanks for letting me know. I think I could go with with just the complete block. Everything else worked when she blew. Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Any idea what shipping charges would be to Duluth, MN? Thanks, JeffWell, do you need all the accessories? Or just the complete block? $500 for the engine w/o accessories, $700 with all the accessories? Plus shipping.

I bought the truck with the connecting rod hanging through the block, but my guess would be something involving low oil. When I took everything apart, it looked like a lifter had seized, which broke the back section of the camshaft off, spit the 4 rear lifters and push rods into the crank case, and then they were ground up by the crank. I think the connecting rod cap studs probably broke off at that point, and the connecting rod bent enough to come off the crank, and then it launched out the side. A real shame, as the engine only had a touch over 150k. Don't forget to check your oil.I didn't know 3FEs could throw rods. Any idea why?

That's what I suspected to start with, but the engine bay was perfectly clean. Even where the rod tore through the block, there was hardly any oil on the frame. After talking to the previous owner, I could see him draining the oil and forgetting to fill it back upthe one I bought like that had the oil galley plug come out and lost all the oil.
