Hello Friends,
Ok so i am using 1992 cruiser 3fe, it was parked for about 3 months and now when i started using it again its giving me a very poor fuel average.
You wont believe but its giving 1.25km per Ltr.

Any expert suggestion please 🙏

Well its simple 3FE efi, all oils were recently changed, issue is its giving very bad fuel average, and 1 thing i noticed is that when the truck its started and i stand near trunk something goes in my eyes and it hurts like its burning my eyes ( the air from exhaust )

Hello,

3F/3F-E are powerful but thirsty engines.

Fuel quality is the first thing to consider. If this is not the case, there are other things to look at.

Is this a 62 Series with a 3F-E engine?

You should check for fuel leaks.

Accelerator cable may be loose or may need replacement.

The air filter may need replacement.

The emissions control devices may need adjustment or repair.

The ECU may need a reset: disconnect the battery, reach for the ECU, disconnect it from the harness, wait 10 seconds, reconnect it to the harness and then reconnect the battery.

I am sure the fuel in my truck is good.
There is no leak of fuel i just checked.

I will check the accelerator cable, will also check the emissions connections ( do you have the diagram of emissions connections by chance 🤭)

Where is the ecu😬😬😬😬😬

Hello,

The 3F emissions manual is available for download somewhere here.

The ECU is above the glove box in 70 Series trucks. Is your truck a 70 Series?

I would start by checking the air filter (could be a rats nest in there) and vacuum hoses.
Thats using about 80litre/100klms and about 3-4 more times than normal.
Something has changed , bad fuel would have made it run bad before it was parked up.

( do you have the diagram of emissions connections by chance 🤭)
You could start by telling us what model and market its from without us having to do the detective work.

The ECU may need a reset: disconnect the battery, reach for the ECU, disconnect it from the harness, wait 10 seconds, reconnect it to the harness and then reconnect the battery.
To reset the ECU, you simply need to remove the 15 amp EFI fuse under the hood for a few minutes. Disconnecting the battery and/or unplugging the ECU does nothing more than removing that fuse.

1.25Km/Ltr is roughly 3 MPG. That's pretty poor unless all your driving is uphill in 2nd gear or you're in low range on the transfer case.
Once again, more information is needed.
What maintenance has been done?
What was your prior fuel consumption 3 months ago?
What terrain are you driving on?
Have you made sure that the hand brake is not seized?

Well, i have only this info of my truck (attached)

it was giving around 7km/ltr before it was parked for a while.
I am really worried about the current situation of truck and how it response to the accelerator.
Though its going to 160km to 170km but the response is slow, takes like few mints to go slowly slowly to top speed, and again like i said before there is a very bad eye burning smoke from exhaust when i go and stand on the back side of truck.

Have you checked the spark plugs, air filter, looked for loose vacuum hoses? I would also ask on the 80 series forum where 80 series with 3FE engines go to get diagnosed. You will most likely find someone therewho has had the same problem.

What color is the smoke? (Is it dark or light colored?) Eye burning sounds like you are running very rich. Agree with other comments to reset ECU and replace plugs.

Brakes dragging?

Hello,

The procedure I mentioned is what the FSM recommends.

Manuals and procedures exist for a reason.

It is easier to remove a fuse for a reset but it not the way the designers developed.

ECUs are expensive. I would not risk one by cutting corners.

Hello,

The ECU should be above the glove box.

Add ECU voltage/resistance testing and fuel cut check to the causes mentioned above.

You might want to ask in the 80 Series Forum as well.
