3F-E "OIL HOLE" ?

Read this while doing a search on a different topic. I couldn't find anything else on it. What does it mean? The "A $1 fix needs to be done to repair an ``oil hole'' eventually" part.

Cons of the 3F-E: Less HP, and some consider it slow in an 80 series, it won't win any race; A $1 fix needs to be done to repair an ``oil hole'' eventually; mucho emissions equipment.

2F and 3F engines have an angled oil passage drilled into the cylinder head, about half way back, on the passenger side. That plug sometimes comes out and makes a bit of a mess . When this happens it is sort of like cutting open an artery. You need to stop the bleeding or lock-up the engine.

The part number of the plug is 90334-07009 and current list price is $1.06.

Man you're good. Thanks for the quick response. It would suck to have that thing go in the middle of nowhere.
 
It sucks to have it pop out anywhere. Trust me, it happened to me. The plug is near the #5 spark plug.

but as far as PM on this, is it better to leave the old one in (set by specialists with OEM specs stuff) or try to stick a new one in there, which even if OEM may or may not fit as well, be set incorrectly etc and pop out a short time after?

leave old or put new?


(but surely a good idea to have one along just in case...)
 
The plug popped out on my 60, but I noticed the "rattly" sound and shut it off. Goobs of oil everywhere. Tech section has the procedure to drill/tap/plug. If you can drill straight (reallly straight) and can use a tap, it's an easy fix.

The trick is to pack the drill/tap with grease to catch the chips.
