Ok, so here's the question. I have ammassed quite the little junkyard at my house and am looking to gain a bit more power out of my old 3b Diesel. To this end I am wondering if a turbo off an RB25DET Nissan Skyline would do the job without too many problems. Near as I can figure and without being able to find any compression maps the Skyline turbo is just shy of a GT3. Wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts on this issue. I wouldn't normally consider such a mod; however, I could haggar something together with relatively little expense.

Let me know guys.

Cheers.

Skyline is not a normal car guys here get turbos off of. What are the specs of the turbo or size of the engine it came off of.

Have you tried searching 3b turbo on here at all? There is plenty of info. But no skyline talk I have heard of.

You can be the first. Welcome to the board! :flipoff2: < mud salute!

I've read the other threads on this forum, but I'm a frugal student with a nicely equiped shop at his disposal, who is always up for an interesting challenge. Basically I'll use whats readily available. The Nissan 45V4 Turbo was their attempt at a Garret T3 nockoff. The turbo came off a 250HP inline six. Making educated guesses and comparing this nissan turbo to other similar turbos compression maps it appears as though it should work; however, I'm not exactly sure how much boost to give to the ol' engine. I was considering running 10-11lbs, but am open to other suggestions. My experience with these turbos on the skylines or nissan swaps is that their usually good to 15lbs.

Again all Im looking for at this point is discussion...

10-11 is a safe number for the 3b. You could go higher, but its an indirect injected engine, so everything has to be forced thru a pre combustion chamber. One that could have cracks already.

I'm going to aim for 14 on my turbo project. I used a junkyard T3

My first thought are it may be to big, my 80 bj40 came with a .60 ar and did not work as well as the t3 42./48 ar 10psi max with or without the waste gate is what I got with it. that I replaced it with, I think a 2.1-2.3 ltr gasser is what you want it off of, Chryslers are about $100 over here.
