3b Power steering belt tensioner bolt

I appear to have lost this, although nothing is loose yet.

I cant find a size of the bolt though, Ive searched here and online. Dorman makes a generic toyota one for like $12, but not sure will fit. Anybody have this size? Thanks!

I seem to recall that the adjusting bolt is prevented (a pin on end?) from unscrewing fully from the pulley spindle, so to take it off you undo the pulley retaining nut, remove the pulley and the bearing, and slide the spindle and adjusting bolt aft out of the cast bracket.
Did yours somehow actually back completely out, or did it shear (fully or partially, then snapped off later) when somebody tried to adjust it with the pulley nut still tight? That happens....
It's a fine metric thread, 14mm AF head, with the bolt shaft fully threaded, and about 4-5 inches long (again, if I recall correctly). I'm sure if you take the pulley and spindle off, a machine shop could make up an adjusting bolt to fit.

I would use either Toyota PN: 90119-08493 or 88446-35040.

The former is significantly cheaper than the latter but might not have the length you need.

Not sure what the prices are like for Toyota parts, but I’ve swapped my tensioning bolt over to a zinc plated version as my old one had seen better days. What you’re looking for is a metric fine thread set screw. From memory it’ll be M8x1.00 and aim for say 100mm long. My local bolt store stock them for like 50c each... of course I live in one of the 192 developed countries here on earth, so if you happen to live in the backwaters of Burma, Liberia or the United States you might be out of luck...

Just pulled mine out, and here it is. It's a special bolt, M8-1.25 (ISO metric coarse), threaded length is 9.7cm, the retention collar is 1.5mm thick, and the collar to head gap is 10mm.
It's been well over a decade since I had it out to replace the idler pulley bearing, so proper time for a clean and refurbish! Thanks!

And just in case you want to replace the bearing while you're in there, it's an NSK 6302DU C3 270.

Nothing has moved (much) because the bearing spindle nut (the one on the front) is tight, holding it together.
If you go for a long M8-1.25 bolt, drill a couple of wire locking holes in it before you install it, so that once it is secure, and taking the tension of the spindle, you can wire lock it so that it won't back out and get lost.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but 90119-08493 is about an inch shorter than my 3bii's tensioner bolt that has seen better days. Anyone have a good part number for a replacement or should I just get a m8x1.25 100mm bolt and drill hole for a locking pin?

if any help the 2h tensioner bolt is 110mm from under the head m8 1.25p, looks very similar if not the same.

I used a batterie holding bolt which I made a little more thread and a nut for adjusting the tension. Bearing are different on the pulley (changed around 1984). You need to loose the nut on the pulley to adjust the tension.

I dont suppose anyone has a part number for that bolt? I've been searching for 2h or HJ60 bolts and cannot find the part number to try and order one.

If he’s discussing the PS tensioner bolt, it’s not available separately from the idler pulley.

Try:

88446-35010
88446-35040
88446-60030

One of those should be long enough.
