I've been noticing that my rpm's can take a second or two to go down to idle speed when I'm on high mountain passes. I've also had it stay at around 1200 rpm until for a while without coming down. Could this be a early sign of a rip in the injection pump diaphram? Around town it has never done this and is elevation related for sure.

Mike.

Went ice fishing on new years eve. Heres some pics.

Mine started to act up at altitude.. which in this case was about 10,000 ft. Then it was fine for a few days, maybe a week or two at lower altitude (5600) before I had to replace the diaphram.

Dunno if that helps... but I would buy a diaphram just in case. I posted the part # in my thread...HTH

I think it's an issue of less air for the same amount of fuel. Kind of like stepping on the gas. Mine does that too and the diapragm is just fine.

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning towards a rip in the diaphram. My fuel consumption is down a couple mpg too.

Try Landcruiser industires in Richmond for buy the part. Rob Millison is a decent guy, rebuilt my nozzles, very helpful.

Also wouldn't hurt to explain your problem to him, very knowledgeable guy.

I hope he doesn't mind me pimping his email address, but here it is.....

Thanks Brownbear but I am able to source the part through work (Toyota)

price compare, your dicount maybe good. Post up any difference. Just out of curiosity. I know Yota can be high on somethings. But also can be surprisingly similar.

Which toyota dealership are ya at? Any special deals you can offer to mud members?

Even with employee pricing I'll bet you pay 3x the going rate for the same Denso part. If you are paying more than $30cdn you're paying too much.

Ya, I'm surprised but my cost is $75 for the diaphram.

I'll have to get in touch with Rob Millison for a better deal.
