Just scored a set of Krawlers and was wondering how well and how long these tires do on the HWY for daily driving? Should I just keep my BFG muds for daily driving and save the Krawlers just for wheeling. Dont know anything about longevity and wear of krawlers compared to mudders. My 4runner is a second truck so it does not get driven to much? thanks

Red label's or Blue label?

A guy in our club runs the 37" Blues on his wheeler, which doubles as a back-up rig; he's had them for 4 yrs+ and barely shows any wear---still about 85-90% (granted it's been down for 1.5 of those 4+ yrs!!!:hillbilly:) But still has tons of tread left!

Is there a night and day difference in the Krawlers and KM2's? The tread is the same besides some sipes right?

The Krawlers have tread about twice as deep than the KM2s...

I call bull****.

22/32 for the Krawlers and 18/19/or 20/32 for KM2s, depending on size.

My 37X12.5X17s have 20/32 according to BFGs website.

Well its funny looking at my new 37" krawlers compaired to my nieghbors new 33" KM2s the tread looks much smaller. ;)

Interesting observation. According to BFG's website the 33X12.5s have 20/32, but the 33X10.5s only have 18/32.

4/32s difference between your Krawlers and the 10.5s would be pretty distinct.

Ill go grab a pic then... The KM2s seem to be much more rounded and Krawlers have much more of a side lug.

Did you have to send the film out for processing or what? :hillbilly:

I wouldn't care how long they last on the Hwy. They're too expensive to waste using them on the road. You can buy a couple of sets of street wheels/tires for what the Krawlers cost.

Nope just been busy. I will grab it when I have a chance though.

Think about it though... KM2s are just like KMs, You see many comp rigs with KMs or KM2s on them? Nope. There is a reason that tire has won more comps than any other, regardless of how much more tread they have over KM2s, or KMs.

That's all fine and good, but I'm doing just fine with my KM2s, even better than with my KMs. I'm not in competition, I just like to have a good time and they seem to do just fine for me. Besides, the Krawlers are $100 more per tire and I couldn't justify that. The KMs wore really well, so I expect the same from the KM2s. I'm onroad probably more than off it, but the main thing is good traction in the winter. No complaints so far.
