Tell me which I should do....I have a 2F rebuilt with 40 over pistons and a rebuilt head....well everything is rebuilt on my FJ 40....I dirve fast...really fast....and I can handle speed, and I want decent fuel economy. My buddies are all pushing me to do a 350tbi swap...and I can get one cheap.....Cheap 2F motor for sale!!!! Let me know what I should do...I like purity, but I like speed better....

Engine is in AZ....

I have over $1,800 in receipts from SOR alone...not to mention $500 of machine work done to it. I will sell it at a loss and proivide all receipts and pictures if you are interested. Block and head were magnafluxed, and re-machined to new specs. So....new head, block......and EVERYTHING IN THE BLOCK IS NEW....including the crankshaft, pistons, rods, cam, lifters...etc....Make me an offer I can't refuse.

I didn't think FJ40's were made to handle speed. trying to do something they weren't made to do can be deadly.

Thanks for the advice but.....

I am not doing the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift in my Curiser... I just want enough power to do 85 in my FJ40 without burning up my engine...Hey the Toyota commercial said it will do 85....I can send it to you if you wish....or just go to SOR. I can't sacrifice power for supposed longevity...two broken crankshafts make me wonder what the hell is going on with this longevity talk...especially since my fuel injected 4 cyl from Toyota in my 85 4runner seemed to kick the snot out of my current FJ40 and FJ60....just my opinion.

rpm's

They will last if you don't over rev. About 2250 rpm is the limit for sustained driving. You better do the swap!

at 85 one mistake and your dead anyhow maybe the 2f will last longer than you

After my dealings with a TBI 350 in a friends truck (that the PO of the rig put in) I'd say stay FAR away from a TBI 350.

That said, if you know the TBI 350 like the back of your hand, and you get a wiring harness from Howell, by all means.

But I am about ready to rip this TBI 350 out of my friends rig, and put in a rebuilt 2F.

I have to disaggree w/ James. I really love my TBI. If you put it in yourself and collect the appropriate documentation, it is very easy to work on, give good milage (relatively), and never stalls. That being said, 85 is pretty fast for a 40.
