I have mounted my 35" tire (315/75/16) on the back door spare tire mount of my BJ74. This involved flipping the mount upside down (idea coutesy of Crushers) and strengthening the inside reinforcing plate and installing three new properly located wheel studs. The tire sits on the rear bumper, taking all the impact weight. The door opens almost all the way, wide enough to be functional. Everything looks good but the top of the tire squashes the rear wiper. I tried 1/2" spacer on the upper two bolt holes, but this interfers with the tire position.

Anybody out there able to get around this problem in a way I have not thought of ?

Maybe a flatter wiper arm ( I have a Bosch one now - about 1" thick).

I'm just about to have a look at this very problem. I suspect relocating the stud locations and using a wheel spacer may help this.

There almost no flexibility in where to locate studs as they must shift up and to the right to allow the little door to clear. I even put a bushing in behind wiper drive (inside the big door) to gain additional clearance - not enough. I need a flatter wiper arm.

interesting, i have been doing this mod for a while with no issues...
stock rim? or after market with deeper back spacing?
maybe put 2 lug nuts (old style open) on first then the tire and rim then the proper lug nuts. this should tilt the tire away from the wiper...
or as you say, go to the wrecker and find a flatter wiper arm...
