eBay 33x9.50x15's Dean brand (Cooper)

Not affiliated with this in any way. Company is located in Knox, PA and I just got back from there with 5 of these in the bed of my truck. I was told they have about 280 of these left. I paid $100.00 each. Providing the link to his auction, he ships and allows pick up. Very nice gentleman to deal with. Just an FYI for those looking for this tire size.

Well, I learned myself well. Looks like they were made in the 48th week of 2005. Code is DNN 4805.

Out here, Le Schwab sells those. They are good tires in my opinion, and last a log time. Planning on running those, or something similar, on my FJ62.

9.5" seems kind of on the narrow side. Would I be compromised in sand because of this?

In my opinion........yes you would be compromised. You can only air down so much. I've seen them run in the sand but I'd feel more comfortable with a wider air'd down tire.

Not sure. It appears as though this guy has a business that buys up tires and sells them via ebay and craigslist....those types of things. He had 4 or 5 warehouses and I don't even know how he keeps track of them. Not a regular tire supplier as far as I could tell. I posted an ebay link, go to that and email him and see if he has any other sizes you'd like. If you specifically want this tire/tread pattern I'm feel sure his answer will be no. Very nice gentleman to deal with.

Locally there's alot of farmers that run Dean brand tires, and they're considered to be a good brand. As far as running a 9.5 on a 80, I put some 9.5 BFG's I had laying around on my 80 when I got it. The skinnies are wonderful on the highway, but I've been really careful when off pavement. Loaded down with camping gear it's an awfully small footprint for deep sand and mud. In the next few weeks I'll be stepping up to a 10.5.

If I hadn't just put new 33-9/5 Bfgs on my 40, I'd be all over a set of these Deans. Rig looks good mossman.

Stay away, those tires are almost 5 years old! Any retail shop wouldn't even be allowed to sell a tire that old!

How about a little explanation on why to "stay away". I know they aren't brand new, but who regulates how old a tire can be to be sold in a retail environment ?

Is it possible that the tires are any less safe because they are 5 years old. I just sold my old tires to someone on craigslist and they happened to be 9 years old, but in excellent shape. I'm not a tire expert so a little help would be appreciated. Why not buy these tires because of their age ? If they were made in the 48th week of 2005.......doesn't that make them sort of closer to less than 4 years old ? Don't want to argue but sure do like to learn.

Not only is it possible, It is likely. Google it.

Just beacuse some guy bought your 9 year old tires doesn't mean they were fine or that he knew what he was doing! While 9 year old tires may be fine for light trail use at low speeds, they should not be used on the road.

I figured most people were aware that old tires = saftey hazard. I've actually had a tire blow because of belt separation (it was several years old but appeared fine). It's not fun.

All tires grow old regardless as to them being on the car or in storage in a large warehouse. I don't seem to understand how a brand new set of tires, never mounted that are 4 years old, can be any worse than a set of tires on a vehicle for 4 years. I'll google and see if I can figure it out.

You're missing an important distinction. Your wive's tires were brand new when she purchased her new car four years ago. Four years from now, these "new" tires will be 8+ years old, and a lot less safe than a four year old tire. While a 4 year old tire may (or may not) be perfectly safe, an 8 year is certainly cause for concern.
