Up for sale is a new to me 40th. I picked it up cheap locally (Montana) due to a leaking oil pump seal. POs mechanic claimed the crank bolt was seized and it needed a new engine. False. New oil pump seal and front main installed 7 hrs after purchase. The PO (an older Rancher guy) has driven it for the last 200K, with the first 150K being its original owner, a doctor out of Kansas City...

The PO said he hasn't done much aside from oil changes- a new brake master cylinder at one point, EGR work, and, I believe an alternator. Typical robust 80s: )

There are some minor scuffs etc. as you would expect with an older higher mileage rig. Some clear coat peeling on hood and roof. No serious dents etc. aside from the tailgate.

It threw a PO402 and sure enough the plenum "pass through" was clogged. I drilled that out a couple days ago and the CEL hasn't come back.

New windshield. Also getting a new serpentine idler pulley. JDM cup holder.

I don't think the front axle has ever been rebuilt. It is making a little bit of noise but no serious birf clicking or signs of axle seal failure.

A local 80-series expert said the 40ths have the rear locker wire harness installed from the factory so a locker retrofit is a little easier than most. If someone has a way I can check this I'd be happy to do so. Pull up carpet or if I knew where to check for a plug? I did some research on this and do not see an extra plug coming out of the harness under the jack area where the ABS plug comes out of the loom under the rig, leading me to believe this is your standard K292 with no locker wiring.

Doesn't leak anything. Drives straight. No issues, everything works aside from the antenna, fobs, and it has a separate key for the ignition, which must have been replaced at some point.

This rig is straight aside from the tailgate, rust free, clean as they come at 350k (no smells or soiled carpet). If nobody is interested in it I'll rebuild the front axle and keep it for a spare camping rig.

I thought someone might have rolled a built rig and needed a clean body to swap parts on to.

If you wanted to fly up and drive it I could get the PHH replaced, that's all that makes me nervous about driving it currently.

Someone better jump on this. I'm tempted but already have an 80 and a 40. Perfect rig for a V8 swap. It won't last long...
You should post some interior pics.

What's the price?

LMK if the deal falls through. Thanks, John
