View attachment 1395457 The LX will probably come out first again. I heard this time they were going to use the actual specifications of a baleen whale in designing the spindle grille, since the one on the current LX is too small.

Huh, I had an entirely different take on it.

Accurate, can't like the 16+ LX styling no matter how much I try... don't know how Lexus managed to screw up the styling so comprehensively, but it was quite an achievement. I think it would be improved if you blacked out all or part of the giant silver trim.

Same with the IS and GS, they went from a conservative but handsome design to a hyper aggressive collection of random shapes.

New Camry looks good though.

I for one really like the direction that Lexus is taking for the design of their new vehicles. Especially the GS, 2018 LS, and LX. It is no longer boring, I mean you look at that angry face in the rear view mirror and move right. I like the sharp edges, teachers might use it to teach geometry. They are brave, unlike their German rivals such as Audi and BMW. They are going to reach younger people with their designs thats for sure.

There's a much greater chance that Toyota starts bringing a diesel cruiser to the US than that Toyota DCs bringing the cruiser to the US altogether. Not going to happen.

my best guess at this point is the 300 series won't be out till 2019 or 2020! The "new" 2018 Tundra and Sequoia were just shown at the Chicago auto show, basically just minor tweaks, no major changes. I realize the Tundra and Sequoia are U.S. models and the LC is an International model, so this may not be apples to apples. But with the Tundra only receiving a slight facelift for 2018 I don't see a 300 series for at least a couple years. Just my guess!

The changes look pretty good. They made the Sequoia less ugly. The 2007 Sequoia was a sweet looking truck, then someone at Toyota decided that Americans wanted the biggest possible grille and made it into the ugliest truck I have ever seen. This is at least a step in the right direction.

My wife Loves her 07 sequoia. Took her six months to find it.

I know. They looked really good. Then, they went all "in your face Texas monster truck" with the Sequoia's front end and made it look terrible.

Another 2007 Toyota truck that looked amazing was the LX 470 at that time. One of the best looking trucks ever.

Japan had something called the Land Cruiser Cygnus at that time (which was an LX470 badged as an LC - had the LX grill and headlights, etc). Anyway, not that the 2008 LX was ugly like the 2008 Sequoia, just saying that the 2007 trucks were pretty sweet all in all.

i hope they mate that with the old school boiler train whistle

I agree. Being that they just changed the grill recently I give it 5 years b4 another series. And honestly I can't see where much improvement can be made other than adding a diesel which Toyota refuses to do in the USA.

I agree the 2007 100 series was the most classically handsome LC/LX. I do quite like the first refreshed LX570 (2013-2015) though.

I just began modding my 200 so I'm not ready to be tempted by a new 300 series :D

My friend said when the 300 comes out I'll buy yours but I think it may have to go to a fellow Mudder :D

He won't like the lift, sliders, A/T tires, and maybe next year bumpers haha

I originally said 2020 and I'm sticking by that despite no actual evidence either way. If it was just a facelift in 2016 I might expect an updated model sooner but there were enough interior changes as well as the 8 speed transmission that I think Toyota is going to try and milk the $ they put into the redesign for a few more years, possibly even using some of the interior redesign in the next version.

That said Kurt seems to have the most inside info. If I was a betting man I'd put my $ on the biggest change being a twin turbo V6, similar to what Ford did with the F-150. Not because the LC is trying to compete with the F-150, but because that's ultimately the direction the manufacturers are going to improve mileage.

A year ago I was thinking 2018 or 2019 just because that would be keeping with the historical trend of the Landcruiser redesigns. But now I'm definitely leaning way more with you on 2020(ish) The Tundra and Sequoia both get facelifts for 2018 and TRD sport models, hmmmmm, what was that @cruiseroutfit said about "TRD would be nice". Based on Kurt's info and the Tundra and Sequoia mild updates and TRD sport models I am changing my guess! 2018/19 TRD sport LC200 with some other minor tweaks, LC300 series in 2021(the year after the projected new Tundra launch). Just a complete guess:)

'How much more Awesome can Awesome get?'

I just can't see how Toyota is going to make a better product than the 200. Cosmetically they can change it alot but other than improving seat comfort, I don't see a drastic area for improvement? The chassis will be close to same size, power delivery can't be increased by much, handling can't be improved by that much (KDSS did wonders).

I agree 100% In a lot of ways I just want the 200 series to live on with tweaks, mods and refreshes every couple years!
