I guess it just depends on if you're getting shot at! I would take this any day though.

I think that's a version of the one I posted. :)

It was just an initial impression of the looks and lines. I think it looks pretty dang cool...and I do admit that I'd love more traditional lines on the Cruiser.... It's not like we expect great fuel mileage anyway.... We don't need wind-tunnel perfection...

Land Rover definitely makes cool vehicles. Before I bought my LC, I had a RRS, my wife has an LR4, and I had an old discovery back in the day. I got rid of the RRS at 40K miles because the roof kept leaking, the discovery left me stranded on the side of the road 3 times at less than 100K miles, and the LR4 is beginning to show signs of air suspension troubles at 50K miles (warning light keeps coming on). The major issue with Land Rover is and always has been reliability. The reason I bought the land cruiser is that it appears to be f'in bulletproof inside and out, and that's the reputation it has built over the past 50 years or so. If Land Rover could ever figure out how to build a reliable vehicle, I may eventually get another one.

I haven't ever owned one before so I have no personal history, but if the new RRS is any indication, RR may well have upped their game. The RRS actually feels solid like the old Mercedes vehicles used to, and I haven't run across anything that appears to be poor workmanship. Everything is very tight and of course all the creature comforts.

Since we are leasing this we probably won't have time to see about long term reliability. She will probably just lease another new RR.

Doh!! That Knight XV? Starts at around 1 MILLION... They do have a used 2014 truck right now that they are only asking $800,000 USD for...

Wow. But then...if you can afford Leer jets, etc.,...the ultimate ZOMBIE MOBILE is chump change at that price...

The Knight and other ones like it (built by companies like Mine - the Spartan, and INKAS, SANDCAT, and Lenco) use the Ford F550 141 as the base platform to build the armored car.

Some do however use the Toyota TLC 200 for smaller LAV

We are still waiting for rear info about the TLC300 to see if it will still be able to use the OEM chassis for major modifications.

Ya, I was looking at the specs on the Knight, but it made no mention of 4 wheel drive. I saw big knobby tires...bot no mention. It seems to be more of limo than anything else. The Land Cruiser seems more appropriate...but then, I'll never be in the market for any of these. Very cool stuff indeed.

Bringing this thread back on topic, any word whether 2018 Land Cruiser will be a 200 series or an updated platform?

Will the new platform be better or worse off road than 200? Toyota has done great things with the 4Runner and Tacoma and their TRD packages, hopefully that carries over to the new Land Cruiser.

There's no "word" but 2018 is too soon for a big change. They already did a lot of cosmetic changes recently.

Unless of course they follow the same course as the 100 series. All new in 1998, updates in 2003, more updates for 2006-2007, then in 2008 the 200 was released. Considering there were mid cycle updates in 2013, more for 2016-2017, it looks right on schedule for a new version to be released in 2018.

The LX will probably come out first again. I heard this time they were going to use the actual specifications of a baleen whale in designing the spindle grille, since the one on the current LX is too small.
