To each his own I suppose, I love mine and every time I'm on the trail or the the streets I don't regret it at all. The only thing I need to fix is raising my roll axis by raising my trac bar but other than that feels extremely stable

If your happy now. Wait until you do it. Reduces body roll and lean out by more than half. And high steer is a dream for handling.

Yup agreed. I personally see no problem with the stock set up.

How does the coil remain seated on the depicted rigs?

You would definitely need limit straps whether you had CO's or not

Capture the springs at both ends. It greatly reduces the tendency for the body to unload. I also run a limit strap in the center of both axles.

My 3 linked rig flexes and climbs better than my 80, with better clearance. I run 80 series bushings for rod ends and they have held up very well for 4 years.

It does not drive on the street so I have no input there.

Absolutely agree. We have drop out cones here. But limit straps all the way. You don't want it to unload. = roll it.

Very short upper and long lower = brake dive. That suspension is not designed properly.

Hey Douglas. Just to clear this up for anyone following. Only the left side dived down. As the tower was not centred. It was off to the right. It's kinda the same as removing 1 of your front bolts.

Poor mans 3 link? Hitch pin mod?

Why do you feel like anyone in a thread specifically about building three link suspensions cares that you prefer the stock setup?

Wheeling an 80 with the stock front suspension links is like wheeling an IFS truck. There are massive gains to be made in the front suspension, lockers don't make up for as much as some would have you believe.

I agree the stock setup limits travel big time.. Soon my Lexus will be going under the knife for a front 3 link. Rear flexes just fine

Because he has a "hardcore rock crawling 80"! That will go anywhere a 3 link can.

Although some view wheel travel as posing. I think they should all add limit straps and set them up so their coils remain captured at all times. And see what a straight jacket stock suspension is for their 80. And who the real posers are.

I'd have a full link suspension for sure if it was Offroad use only. The hard part is finding the best of both worlds.

So would centering the tower be the best choice?

I assume all the towers mounted on the pumpkin are for max "link separation" at the axle for strength against axle wrap.

From my experience. Cantering it made braking in a straight line fine, with no diving. But cornering while braking still had a roll affect. Ie.. It dove further to the body roll side and didn't feel very good.

I'd wait for socal to finish his housings.

You will have to ask him directly.

I will, but not sure who you're talking about as there are a few "socal"s. Do you have a link to a thread?

There is always one hater floating in the pool like a turd :D
