I was reading on the main MUD site that using a 3.73 diff from a FJ60 would give me a better highway driving than my stock gears - 4.10s.

I am running a V8 with an SM420 and was wondering what "improvement" I would get. Has anyone done this or know anything about how this might change my ride.

Any ideas,

Hey Joe
I've read the exact same thing... 5 speed, and 3.73 will allow higher speeds, lower revs...
I wish I knew what was involved in doing the gear swap tho...

Swapping diffs 60 to 40 is nothing except putting them in and dealing with the different driveshaft flanges... can be done in a number of pretty simple ways... Oddly I have 2 FJ60 diffs sitting here on Long Island looking for a new home... ;-)

Dealing with the flanges is just a matter of getting a pair that match your driveshafts from Cruiser Outfitters... or swapping the short ends of your current 40 driveshafts with the short ends from some 60 driveshafts...
