I know this will be a chore but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I have a 2UZ that I hope to swap into a 1966 FJ45LV and I need a jump on understanding what is what on the harness. I have a video showing all of the parts of the harness as I walk around the engine. If anyone that knows can tell me what is what (I guess based on the time of the section of the video?) I would be most grateful.

Thanks,
mark

What vehicle was this engine pulled from? A 100 series I'm assuming?

I haven't had a chance to fully watch your video, but the first large harness that has the firewall boot near it is most definitely for the ECU. I'll take a look in a bit and tell you what else I recognize

Most of these are pretty self explanatory, sorry I can't nail the more obvious bits down

0:07 - 0:57 - Factory ECU Harness + Other connections possibly, you have the ECU right?

1:05 - 1:08 - Looks like a - connection to the battery or frame

1:28 - 1:38 - Connector to Coil pack

2:28 - 2:37 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that connects to the PWM valve for the vacuum system

3:02 - 3:08 - The + connection to battery

3:50 - 4:05 - Connection for your throttle body motor + sensor

If I saw what the connectors were going to I'd be a little more useful, I can probably pop my hood and trace a bit of the harness later on if you really need it.

The blue connectors go to the fuel injectors I believe

I bet you a bunch of those connectors are just for sensors around the engine

THANK YOU.

I do have the ecu.

I dont believe anything that is not already connected in the video- that I pull out to look at - connects to anything on the engine. It is precisely those loose connections that I am curious about.

Best advice I could give you would be to grab a copy of the Electric Wiring Diagram book for your truck.

Hmm, I'll take a peek around my engine bay tomorrow when there's light out for you, if you need it.

The electric wiring diagram would probably help drastically, there's a factory service manual floating around that also might have some of the connections documented throughout.

The volume 2 of the FSM shows pics of how things go together, but no info on wire color codes, connector shapes, schematics, etc.

Yes, but there are still diagrams within that edition of the manual which would assist in identification, provided you knew the general area of where that connection was made. It's also cheaper than purchasing the electric wiring diagram, which would theoretically not be very useful considering the only thing out of it that is relevant is the engine itself.

Ok... so now I am finally getting back to looking at this and I have a bunch of questions. I am generally visually oriented so having pictures AND a wiring diagram will make this make the most sense to me.

I am also swapping to a cable throttle body from the electronic one that was on the engine so some of these pics are related to that part.

I'm posting a bunch of pics with a number and any info about the location that I know.

Any help schooling me on all of this would be greatly appreciated.

Starting with the throttle body.

1. This is on the right side of the TB when facing the front of the engine. Throttle position sensor connector?

2. This is on a wire coming out of the right underside of the TB.

3. This is on the left side of the TB. Acc pedal position sensor connector... I thought this was a cable actuated throttle body?

4. And this is a hose connection on the TB. This is the water bypass connection - where would it normally connect to...?
(Also note the capped fitting on the front of the intake manifold - what is that?)

5. Fuel lines to the fuel rails?

6. Three plugs - large grey, small grey and black... Off the center back of the engine - coming out from the cover labeled J83

7. Off of the positive battery connection - power taps for specific things?

8. Grey plug near the + and - battery connections

9. Hose on front of engine under TB - it may have been connected to the electronic TB? Is this the smaller of the 2 water bypass hoses?

10. Throttle position sensor part number for reference.

11. Black plug off of wire coming from alternator.

12. Hose port (vac?) on gizmo (what is it?) top right side of engine

13. Capped tubes... heater output and return?

14. Open port on thermostat housing

15. Open port on fuel rail - vac would normally go to...?
