I got an old '79 diesel troopcarrier but the engine's gone and I want to replace it (the rest of the vehicle's quite sound).

The 2H engine seems to me to be a good (and fairly cheap) replacement but will it be easy to install?

Or, is there a better choice of diesel engine?

I'd go for the 1HDT myself.......
I'm getting the feeling your not in the US; correct?

Oh! Welcome........

Hi All:

"Broken," where are you located?

What engine did this Troopie come with originally?

I don't know, but I'd have to assume that a 2H would be a bolt-up replacement for an "H" engine. If your Troopie has one of the "B" series I-4 diesels you'll need to swap out the transmission to suit the 2H.

I agree with "Grant5127" that a later turbo-diesel would be a real upgrade, but I've driven a HJ45 pick-up with a 2H and was quite impressed.

Good luck!

Alan

Good guess...

...I'm in Melbourne.

Thanks guys. I'll have to get back to you on the engine type (it's broken down a while away).

What exactly are the PROs and CONs of the 3B, H, 2H, 1HD-T?
