My 78 FJ45 has an unusual oil leak located near the top of the clutch bell housing driver's side where there is a vertical open slot (picture attached). I am not sure if it is a rear crank seal leak or from another location on the end of the block as it is higher up than where the seal is located. Can anyone please give me some information before I remove the engine and/or transmission. Thanks.

It might be the cam plug (at the 2 O'clock position) or the main oil galley plug (at the 11 O'clock)
Just sayin';)

if they dont leak, check the oil.....prolly low.....

bummer

Bummer, can you even see them to see where the leak is coming from?

I think if it was the rear main he'd probably see it down the backside

my 2f only had a little streak down the back of the oil pan
