Going to look at a military trailer tommorow. My luck it is a 3/4 ton but not sure. Wanting to make a off road trailer to camp out of. Not into rock crawling but could see some deep ditches etc. Will a 2f have enough umph or do I look somewhere else!
I decided to pass. Lots of rust on the frame. Rusted thru at one of the spring hangers, couple of holes in the side and floor would have to be replaced. I do not know how to weld yet and it would have to be sandblasted!
Don't know what the price was for this one but I have a contact that has several M101A2 trailers for sale. He's asking $1000 ea for them. They all have either electric or hydraulic surge brakes, no rust new tires, Mahogany bows and sides, good covers. Around 1989 vintage.
M101s for a grand a piece??? From what I have seen, anyone who has any of these for sale would be a ecstatic to get $500 for them. I have seen them in fresh Depot condition at the DMRO and state surplus auctions maxing out at $250.
There is an older fellow who has several different trailers for sale i am going to stop and look at. He is fairly old so understanding him on the phone is a no go. Will post what i find.
Mine was pretty much pristine(1989 M101A2) new tires, and underneath the the paint was--Mahogany! I still think I got a good deal for $1000--perfect brakes-NO rust-all original

The M101 is fine behind an 80 series or larger LC. I towed mine a couple times with my FJ60 and it pushed it around some. Granted it was full of firewood. But I would not want to tow it regularly with anything smaller than my 80. Someday it might become an expo trailer but for now it just hauls firewood and trash.
