I am replacing the 2F on my 1982 FJ45. Bought a 2F from a 1983 FJ60. The intake on the engine from the 60 has a blockoff plate on the intake manifold under the carb where the PCV hose goes in on my old engine. Neither engine has an EGR valve.

If I leave the blockoff plate in place, where does the PCV hose go, from the crankcase to where? I cant tell where it went on the "new" engine from the 60 because the hose was cut when it was removed. Can I use the "new" intake manifold or easier to swap out and put the "old" one in its place? Pictures of both intakes.

Thank you.

Tom

If you wanted to leave the block off plate in place you could run a line to an isolator between the intake and the carb that has a vacuumed connection.

I routed the PCV to a tee that ran to a connection on the top of the air filter and to a connection on the isolator plate between the carb and the intake, this one is what was stock on the '83 60 series and has a heat shield built in for the carb. Running headers and a different intake that didn't have a port for the PCV so it doesn't look like what you got.

I'd use one of the carb Isolator intake ports or drill and tap the block off plate.

Agreed, my 40 is a 79.

Mine too! 12/79 build, titled as 1980.

When I de-smogged mine, I welded a plug in the EGR side of the fitting and left the other side for the pcv valve line.

Agree with Mace: drill and tap the blockoff plate. The reason your manifolds are different is because the one with the single threaded fitting is either an early (75-78)2F or a non-US spec manifold.

Thanks for all the detailed responses. The truck is a Middle East Spec so that would possibly account for the "older" style manifold on the original engine. Drill and tap sounds like the way to go here but I'm going to read the desmog link to understand things better so thanks for posting that info as well.

I appreciate all the help.

Anyone know if one of the vendors sells an isolator block with the PCV valve fitting? Was that type of isolator ever a stock Toyota part?
That’s a step backwards. I have a drilled and tapped plate if you want. It’s not expensive, but I have a minimum order policy. You can call the shop to discuss. Phone number in my avatar and signature line.

VM returned.
Thanks for returning my call and sorry I was not able to talk when you called.

The truck will be registered in Pennsylvania and not CA. If I was in Cali I would bring it over to you to sort out for me. Have not been able to find an FJ shop anywhere close to Northeast PA.
