Mace, I'm having trouble picturing what you're saying. Could you elaborate?

Thanks.

you have the bolt head, washer, then plate, then a metal sleeve that the bolt would go through through, then the plate, washer, and nut.

right now with no sleeve, the plates could distort towards each other, overtightening could occur, that kinda stuff. a sleeve would help everything keep it's shape. not a huge deal but, couldn't hurt either.

would that weaken the clamping effect. I am kinda surprized they are so strong just being clamped to the frame.

awesome. thanks for all the pics - what great marketing for 2badfjs! seriously, that's great workmanship and quality all around. the lack of welding is really attractive as well.

I'm just jumping in here...
No,that would not weaken the clamp effect as long as your sleeves were not longer thatn the frame is wide. that is why Weaver said cut the tube/sleave shorter than the thickness of the frame.

sounds good to me, It would keep the plates from warping when you tighten, wfould look nice and clean too.

Only suggestion, cut a piece of tubing just under the thickness of the frame and sleeve the bolts. It will help keep the plated from distorting..

it will but then the plates would have to be longer to make up for the sleeve.
bolt holes are 6" center to center, just enough to clear the frame.

i guess i didnt post an overall pic of the drivers side. sorry guys. here is the photo i took right after installation.

Im going to post more pictures after I get back from tellico. im going to be on a trail ride august 11-13 with the upstate cruisers club. im hoping to put these things to the test. If tellico isnt gnarly enough i will be back in montana a week later wheelin every weekend.

not really. it looks like your plates are long enough. you would just need to spread the holes 1/4"(1/8" each way) maybe 5/16.
