That is the Prado and not the Land Cruiser...

The word "Prado" comes from Spanish, meaning "meadow" or "field." It gives off vibes of open natural spaces where agility and versatility are a must. Toyota liked it so much that it's the only Land Cruiser to be knighted with a name giving it a title that sums up what it’s all about. capable, nimble, and noble. Most people don’t know what “Prado” actually means and just say "It’s uh Prado. It’s a Prado," without realizing why this Land Cruiser is called that.

The Prado IS a Land Cruiser. just the most nimble Land Cruiser of all. 👑 ⚔️

To further expand, that is actually a very nice website. For instance, you can sort by Adult Occupant protection, you can sort on many things, and guess what... Volvo was not the first one ! Mazda CX30 followed by Mazda 3. The first Yota is the venerable Hilux in 23rd position !

As a reference, :(, Jeep Gladiator comes at 978 of 981 cars, :(

Before it was called a Prado, it was called the Bundera and LandCruiser II.

And then there was also the Land Cruiser Amazon named after Big, Strong Women Warriors.

Good results, but I’d save the full kudos until it passes the IIHS small overlap with flying colors. That test seems to trip up a lot of SUVs….

It's important to note that this rating was obtained using Australian New Car Assesment (ANCAP) test protocol. ANCAP is similar to the European NCAP (EuroNCAP), but does not include all the tests performed in EuroNCAP. ANCAP is also different from the test protocol used by US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), although some of the tests are similar. Finally, ANCAP is significantly different from the US government ( NHTSA) NCAP protocol. Finally, there is the Japan NCAP which generally similar to EuroNCAP.

Some of the key difference are:
- EuroNCAP includes vehicle stability control test. This one is difficult for high center of gravity vehicles. It's different protocol from the "moose test" that is performed in Sweden, but the objective is similar - see how controllable the vehicle is during an emergency avoidance maneuver. Toyota vehicles have generally struggled with the "moose test".
- IIHS tests include small-overlap front crash tests (driver and passenger side). When initially introduced many vehicles struggled, but now most pass the test with good results. It's a tougher test than moderate-overlap test performed in NCAP and EuroNCAP.
- NHTSA tests include additional criteria such as fuel and other fluid leaks after the crash test.

Overall, the whole battery of EuroNCAP, IIHS tests and NHTSA tests is quite more stringent than NCAP. Bottom line, it's too early to declare that the new LC 250 is a "5 star" vehicle. It would be an unmitigated disaster if the LC 250 scored poorly in NCAP, but let's see what the ratings are after completion of the more stringent test protocols in Europe and the USA.
