I just purchased a 1985 BJ70 in Vancouver and brought it across the border to Seattle a couple of weeks ago. If you're passing through Seattle, let me know.

Did you pick up that black one from Gibsons that was up on Ebay a while ago? Cheers.

Thanks for the invite Fossilcruiser but we are entering through Babbs Montana then driving down the east side of Glacier Park. Staying overnight with friends in Helena.

No worries. You should have a good drive. It took longer for me to wait in line at the border than to get the paperwork for the import taken care of.

Be sure to post up your rig in the 70s Registry Sticky. I will do so soon, but it's nice to know where the other BJ70s are in the states.

The truck cost $14,997.00 in November, 1985 and has a "cash value" of C$13,800.00 with over 300 000km on the clock 20 years later, wow...

It's a really nice looking truck and it's all about supply and demand on LHD 70's... If you really want LHD you're gonna pay for it!

I always say if I were to do it again I would get a RHD truck from Japan.

I do like that 2 tone color scheme. lol!

Got The 70

Got the BJ70 home with out any problems. Flew up to Calgary spent 1 eve then drove south. Crossed into the States above East side Glacier Park. Was asked about the"Letter" from Toyota. I very tactfully informed the Officer that I had previously called this and another Port of Entry and was told to bring the Title and a Bill of Sale and that because the vehicle was over 25 years old just check exempt on the forms. He asked his supervisor and came back with the forms. No more mention of the "Letter". The weather cooperated. Got home with an anticipated triaged list of things to do to the 70. Turbo (ordered), 5 wheels and tires (ordered), fab new front and rear bumpers, shocks, windshield, fix rust areas on both rear tire wells, fix rust areas around windshield. etc. Sweet!

Nice to see the rig. You should pick up a few MPG after you ditch the bumpers, holy cow! You said they were big, but those are really big lol. Are you going to put them on your 40? :D
I'll call you tomorrow.

:clap:Not only will my MPG go up I will probably get a free lift of an inch or two. However on the trip home I consistently averaged 23. I'm sure the turbo will help the MPG's too. The bumpers are going to be taken to a scrap metal facility unless there is someone out there that's dying to put them on their 70. Metal for new bumpers are being purchased tomorrow.

Would you mind posting up pics of your bumpers when you fab them up? Still thinking on some ideas for my front bumper. Thanks, and enjoy your new 70!

Bumpers are going to be simple. There are no Moose down here to run into. Front is going to be 3/8" channel to look like a factory FJ40 front bumper. The rear is going to be 3"x5" rectangular stepped up around the corners with 2"x4". A receiver under. Pictures will follow I hope in about a week.

Haha sounds good. Looking forward to pics. I suppose you think we all live in iglooos up here too, eh? haha. :)

I m in the process of buying a BJ74 13BT. How would one fit a Warn 8247 on a 24 volt Cruiser?
