What do I need and where can i get it to convert the military 24 volt harness to a 12 volt so I can tow the trailer and use the lights? It is a 3/4 ton, M101A (?) trailer. Thanks in advance. I did a quick search for 24 to 12 and did not find anything.

On my CDN M101 1/4 ton trailer I just switched the bulbs to 12V ones. I used the military harness and installed a military connector on the tow vehicle which I got from Saturn Surplus.

Exactly, you don't need to change the wiring, just find some 12v bulbs that will work and set up whatever kind of connector you want.

I ripped out the old military harness and rewired the trailer with 12V led lights and the wiring they came with.

I went with BA15-19 red led narrow beam bulbs (4) from Superbrightleds.com. Now that its done, I wish I would have gotten the wide beam pattern and probably only the 12 led units for the running lights. But anyway I rewired with the universal harness from them too. I did not wire up the lower two bulbs in the Military lights. Not sure what they are used for anyway?

Daytime pic is kind of hard to see but its all I got. This is with the brakes lights on.
