My bosses farm in southern pines. Initial prep work involves a sawzall, hammer, and pry bar. He told me he would buy the corona wagon so I contacted the owner today. The current nissan 240 has new fuel injectors coming. Hopefully that will resolve the power issue. The corona will need a roll cage installed and the nissan needs some modification. Anybody have a tube bender?

We can get one of those tube kinkers from harbor freight.

The roll cage has to be built without pinches in the bends. They are super strict on this. And yes, if we can get the wagon ready, two cars.

My boss just sent me to pick up a mazda miata. Apparently this is a great little car to have as a fail safe backup and it's easy to get race ready. In addition to the nissan and toyota wagon we will now have three potential chump cars to get ready. Is anyone available on Monday to look at the toyota wagon in Smithfield? I could use a second opinion and someone with knowledge of a 20r motor. I'm calling the guy today. Also I need to know who is seriously interested in participating in the build/race of these cars. Next race is in Dec in ATL and runs 14 hrs in one day. This is serious business. I need build/pit crew and a couple drivers.

I would help ..but i live near charlotte....about all i can afford is time

MIATA!!!!!

So as members of the team, do we get to drive at all or are we just mechanics?

I can pay to drive. ;<)

Grew up driving the snot out of cars (911, crx si's, mr2's, 944's, Mustang GTs, etc) on the back roads of Johnston County. The funny part is when the mustang brakes use to catch on fire.

Mechanical work.

At this point all I need is volunteer labor to do work on the cars. The miata will only need strategic parts removed, welding and tuning. Both cars will visit a shop for a timing adjustment. My boss and his buddy are putting up the money for safety related stuff. Also the roll cage for the miata is on order and only needs to be welded in place. I will need help over the next couple of months to tune the cars in to run properly. I am going to put together a list of specifics over the next week on what is needed for both cars. At this point, to participate at the race, the only $$ anyone has to put up is the fee for being a driver or for being a pit crew member. Realistically we can have 3 to 4 drivers per car and all get plenty of driving time. If anyone has a chance to drive to southern pines sunday or or all of next week to look at the cars and help with the checklist I'm here. PM me for the address. Otherwise I'm gonna schedule a work weekend, probably the first weekend in November, to have everyone who's interested come do a solid work session on the cars. As for a toyota that the club can officially sponsor, let's wait and see how this next race goes before we commit.

I may be able to come down next week at some time.... how long do you think it would take??

It wouldn't take too long, whatever you have time for. Next week I plan on stripping the car of everything and in the process compiling the build list. Also installing new fuel injectors on the 240 and testing it. The big thing is having more than just myself to trouble shoot and problem solve any issues.
