I have about 4.5K miles on the 21 LX and the nav head unit went blank and it reset itself on our drive home again while the car was driving. Directions were plugged in and during the blank screen it also announced the directions.

Has this happened to others? I plan on bringing it up during the first 5K service. Thanks!

Happened on my new 2020 GS about a dozen times. There was a firmware update that seemed to fix it. Take it to the dealer.

Others have reported it too. I’ve had rare random resets in the nav unit, but not for a couple years. A search on here might turn up some ideas. If your dealer can’t duplicate the problem, they will be of no help. If it happens again, take a video of the issue to show the dealer.

Sounds good, thank you folks!

Sorry to hear, thanks for letting me know.

My head unit did this last week during a road trip. It has also started to drop the Bluetooth connection to my phone when music is playing, something it never did before.

'16 LX, mine has done it once or twice as well.

I’ve read about this happening in other manufacturers, not Toyota or Lexus. Pretty disappointing.

Today the nav unit froze altogether. Took a video, the entire unit from climate to radio to maps were unresponsive.

Saving grace was that the nav unit seems to be independent of a lot of safety features unlike Ford, Subaru, Land Rover, Volvo, etc. where the head unit misbehaving disables major car safety features.

Had this happen to me a few days ago. Screen was on but unresponsive, trying to change the radio station or volume from the steering wheel didn't even work.

Here was my self discovered fix: press and hold the volume knob (aka power button) for about 10 seconds. It should force a restart. I didn't lose any of my radio presets or anything. Hope that helps someone out in the future.

It’s happened to me maybe 2 or 3 times in 3 years.

Is there a TSB # for this?

Not that I know of, but as soon as I mentioned it to the dealership they seemed to know of the issue. Funny thing is the day they updated the firmware on my LX, the nav screen on my wife’s 19 RX350 did the same thing. I took the RX in and they did a firmware upgrade as well.

My head unit (2020 LC200 HE) froze upon start up on the Legal screen for the first time last week since owning it. Steering wheel controls froze to. It corrected itself in a few minutes and hasn;t done it since.
I'm visiting the dealer later this week for the 10,000 mile service, so I'll address it then and hopefully there is a firmware update.
I'll post what I find out after my visit there.

Update: went to the dealer and they said there is no firmware update for my 21 LX. They hard reset the navigation and asked to monitor.

Dealer did not have a Firmware update in their system. I'll monitor it and take it back in and be a little more forceful then .
