This is great discussion, keep trying to convince people to buy anything but the 250. I think the same people from the Bronco forums are here and just cut and paste, change the word bronco to LC.
The biggest difference between FMC and TMC is TMC knows what consumers want and they want to crush the American car manufactures for listening to the activists who know nothing about the real world and how it works.

I will test drive a 250 and 550, if the seat is comfortable and the power train is sufficient, I will purchase my toy for under SRP. Prolly through Costco, Yes the 550 is already on the Costco Auto site and it is below MSRP.

Re: Costco Auto is this actually applicable right now? Like will dealers abide by it given markups, wait lists, etc as production ramps up or is this foreseeably something that will work in a year+ from now when there are vehicles sitting on dealer lots?

just an FYI- the 250 is built on the 300 platform which is superior to the 200 platform. So we all might want to wait til its actually out- and see what its all about before calling it a complete disappointment???? And given its coming in $30k cheaper than the 200 out of the box.....if its stiffer/ and 800lbs lighter /8-10mpg better/and drives better and doesnt have valley plate/cam tower/$5500 leaks/pm overhead.- i wouldnt be so quick to judgement until its actually out.

Yeah I don’t get all the bickering for something that’s not even out yet.

I plan on owning both 200 and 250 series. I already have two LC200s and looking for one more; I pray the values fall so I can buy three more.

I’m daily driving a 2023 GX460. I’ll test a 250 and then decide if I want to replace my GX460.

The only people who are going to have an opportunity to test drive a 250 in the next 6 plus months are people who committed to purchasing one months in advance.

Everything is pre-sold according to my toyota guy and people who have committed to buy will be permitted to test drive but either you take it or they move on to the next person in line waiting to buy.

You might be surprised at the number of vehicles that are purchased sight unseen
I heard same from Lexus two weeks ago re GX550 availability

The reality of the above couldnt be any more wrong.

As has been thrashed within an inch of its life many times before, Jeep and Ford each sell more than 1000 units per month every month of the Jeep and Bronco respectively and have for a while.

They also offer short and mid wheel base models along with a number of roof and drive train options.

This is one of the big draws to both of the above, they are willing to provide the consumer what they want

Ford's QC is same as its always been....poor......Jeep has become quite good, so good that the Wrangler has scored as high and higher for last 3-4 years than the last year Toyota offered a LC in the US.

You cant argue with US consumer demand for the genre of Wrangler/Bronco when they sell over 200,000 units annually.......

Toyota is going to sell what? 6500 this year and similar for next few years before it tanks like the previous version did when it dwindled to just over 1k units sold annually.

This is quite interesting. According to whom, and it which ways?

Pick any of the publicly avail comparitors

Here's one

Toss in 2021 LC, 2023 Wrangler 4x4 Rubicon and a 2021 Jeep 4x4 Sport

They're all low to mid 80's in quality and reliability

That’s interesting. Clean sweep:

The 2024 Wrangler Rubicon exceeds the 2021 LC Heritage Edition on every one of JD Powers’ rating metrics, including reliability.

It is relevant though since we don’t have the option to buy a true successor to the LC platform in the States, while the marketing department at Toyota cons people into thinking we do.
As much as I would have liked to see us get the Toyota version of the 300 I can tell you with the utmost certainty that some folks would still crap on it. “No V8, no hydraulic power steering, no split tail gate, nOt A rEaL LC”
It also is not $30k cheaper, only the basic version with cloth interior. By the time you spec it you are in fact very close to the old 200 pricing.
Let’s see… US spec 200 Series was only offered in the top of line trim which was around $85-$90k MSRP. Adjusted for inflation today that would be around $100-$105k.

New US spec 250 Series is being offered in 2 trims (3 to start but the First Edition is a limited, one time run I’d imagine). So 1958 base model - $58k followed by the nicer, more equipped Land Cruiser trim at $65k. Throw a few additional options on either of those, plus delivery and it’s probably closer to low 60’s for the base and high 60’s for the next step up. The First Edition is coming in with all the bells and whistles at $75k which is admittedly a bit steep IMO but it is a limited, “special edition” so I see them marketing it as such and adding some extra $$$ to their margins. The problem is the dealers who will no doubt tack another $10-$15k on top of these…but without ADM’s the 250 is priced accordingly I think.

You can take ratings from places like JD Power with a grain of salt. If you look into the specifics of their ratings, they are often crap like: during the first 6 months of ownership, how many times did it have to go to the dealer for any 'problems.' There is no difference in the rating if the 'problem' is a failed engine or transmission, or someone that needs help from the dealer to pair their bluetooth phone

Also if anyone wants to throw a bunch of money at a 200 let me know. 😎 “Last of the V8’s” really seems to get them all worked up into a frenzy over on BaT.

So very true.

In Consumer Reports reliability surveys, Jeep in general and the Wrangler in particular have terrible reliability ratings. Consumer Reports data isn’t perfect, but it appears to me to be the best available, and far more accurate than JD Power.

Oh I do. Still, interesting.

Start showing up. Even Google is doing targeted marketing for this. 😁
New Rochelle wanted $20k markup🖕.
