carathers was a blast when i did it last year! bring alot alot of bug spray! the big hill at the end wasnt that bad and theres an easy route to the side/ a couple of side tracks through the creek that have some pretty good sized rocks but you can go the easy way.

the rock crk trail looks like a dandy, snow might be an issue on cowbone and caruthers is caruthers. it's a great trail esp if you have'nt been on it before. also the added benefit that if your passenger get's lippy you can boot em out at the prison

Bumpity Bump. 40s only run is next month!

Anybody still wrenching on their rig to get ready?

The Rock Creek / Leadville Trail looks like a good mix of trail and scenery and most/all of us haven't run it yet. So my vote is for that trail. Anybody got strong feelings about that trail? or another trail?

So you're saying I should start trying to diagnose my lack of 4 low?

deer leader i will follow wherever you lead us. it was running when i parked it so hopefully it still is. probably better check it out

I started working on diagnosing my lack of 4-low. The level going into the tcase seems to be stuck. I'm going to remove the linkage and apply a hammer to the lever to see what happens.

Also, Rock Creek - Leadville looks like a good time.

OnX doesn't appear to have the Rock Creek - Leadville trail listed, or at least nobody has added it yet. Maybe we should do that once we've run it.

or dont for the express reason that onX dont know about it yet. just a thought from a salty local

i'm sure you've tried rocking it while trying to shift it. I bought a 55 once with a built 327 and body was almost perfect. it also wouldn't go into low range so i took a chance and paid 800 dollars for it. all it was was linkage had been tweaked. gentile use of a sledge hammer and we took it to alaska a few weeks later. never another issue

Hey random thought here, but is there anyone that would be willing to let me borrow their 40 on June 6&7th for a super awesome secret project that I cant provide details for publicly yet but DM me if you are interested.

I have low range!!!
I disconnected the range selector linkage of the transfer case shifter and broke it loose with a pry bar. I had to rock it slightly to get it actually into gear, but not a ton. I worked the lever through the positions a few times and now it moves freely. Put everything back together and did a function check. Success.

I'd like to adjust the bend of the transfer case shifter in the future, but for now I'm just happy to have a transfer case with low range for the first time since i got the truck in 2018.

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert to twin sticks to be able to select hi or low in either 2 or 4 wheel drive?

no actual need to go twin stick to get that setup

remove the shift gate off the transmission, or modify it so you can go to the right without going backwards with the lever
this will do the same thing as twin stick, just not the cool factor

So you're saying that I need to fabricate a second lever then.

Paul, i wish had had known that mod before going the 2 stick route. they are a royal pain to get adjusted to stay in gear. Seth i would definetly check this out.

no need for another lever.
use the existing lever, either remove the shift gate or open it up so the lever can move to the right without moving rearward
or in other words
make so the lever does not need to move in an "L" pattern
