I’ve always wondered if I could just remove the rear spoiler. Well, as luck would have it a tree limb decided to karate chop the rear hatch last week. Today I stopped in to check the progress on the hatch repair. I’m very happy I stopped by! My hatch will look just fine without the stupid spoiler and stuff hanging off the rack will not hit the hatch! Here are a couple of quick pictures I snapped. It is still dirty from the old spoiler of course. Now to figure out some semi-permanent plugs for the mounting holes…..

Have you considered rear lights?

I believe basic overseas trims are not fitted with the spoiler. I wonder if they sport bare metal without the holes or is there some cover piece instead?

EDIT: well, barn-doored 200s obviously do not have a spoiler. It seems all split-gate 200s sport one.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Is that a Prinsu Rack? And did the spoiler hit the rack, when you opened the hatch?

I am considering a Prinsu, but want to keep the stock spoiler, but not have it hit.....

That is a prinsu rack and it does not hit the spoiler. A tree limb fell on the spoiler and the body shop could not get one for months. So I ran without it for a couple months.

But you eventually put one back on? Mind if I ask why?

One day the shop called and had it ready to install. I didn’t really see any reason to leave it off so, I let them install it.
Maybe the back window collected 5% less dust without it. And my mileage might be 1% better with it????

Wonder if you could cut the spoiler to put the light bar in it. Might make for a cleaner install and look. And keep your glass clean and keep the rain from pouring over.

I’d have the shop order you and not install it and then you can decide what to do with it.

No leaks. I don’t remember how long I left them up there, but I run it thru the automatic car wash and never had any leaks or problems.
If it were parked outside for a long time, I imagine the sun would eventually degrade the plastic and cause problems.
