Today was the day I couldn’t take the LC200 front cupholders anymore. I’ve tried inserts, paper towels, etc and felt it was time to come up with something other than a half-baked solution. Was originally thinking about taking out the entire 2-cup insert but started looking at the divider between the driver and passenger cup positions.

I started with a spring from a Remington 700 BDL floor plate and modified it to fit by trimming off the ends and doing some light grinding to the edges

Then I drilled a 3/32” hole in the divider and threaded a small metric machine screw in that I had lying around (.110” dia so prob M3)

I “staked” the spring so it would stay around the machine screw in an attempt to hold it captive and not allow it to fly off during g compression

The concept is working pretty well at this point, but the spring loaded detents in the divider arms were causing the movement of the arm to be hindered and less fluid. I forgot to take a picture before I forcibly removed these springs, but the pockets where the springs were are seen below. The arm movement is now fluid and proper

The improved divider before touch up paint and install. So far this looks like it’s going to work. Disposable water bottles are a little wobbly but man sized drinks fit very nicely

I use the same Yeti cup. A few pennies worth of 1/2" peel-and-stick weatherstrip foam, holds it nice and snug. Been on there since 2018.

(BTW, had a 700 BDL way back in 1986, in .222)
