Keep in mind that this is all hypothetical and probably just wishful thinking... But if I were the project director for the next generation Land Cruiser, the North American product would end up looking somewhat like this.

The series would be called FJ409 (Yes FJ Four-Oh-Nine.) Why? Well, it's different and it has a nice ring to it. That's why!

The engineering aspect would stick to the classic Land Cruiser formula but shift it's main focus into saving weight and lowering its center-of-gravity. With an all-aluminum body and extensive use of high-strength steel, the target weight would be below 5000lbs (because 5815lbs is too damn high!!).

The design aspect would be pure nostalgia, refeaturing design elements from the earlier Land Cruisers (40, 50, and 60-series), while distinguishing itself from Toyota's reitteration of the FJ40 in the FJ Cruiser.

SPECS
4965lbs
5.5l V-8 (all-new)
409hp @ 5800rpm
440lb-ft @ 3200rpm
8-speed auto (carryover)
16 city/21 hwy/18 combined

PERFORMANCE
0-60 5.2 seconds
Quarter-mile 13.4 seconds @ 99.6 mph
Braking 60-0 112ft

My vision for the design:

No reason to produce a vehicle like this unless it can sell in large margins. I'd say it would need a solid front axle and at least one trim with locking front and rear differentials.

It's gotta go head to head with the heep wrangler.

As a former FJ Cruiser owner, it seemed to me Toyota had a superb platform on its hands, but Toyota was not willing to go just a few extra steps to make it a jeep killer--SFA and removable top and doors. Anything bigger and you're in 4Runner territory.

Lol, this would be the 200-series (fj200) replacement, Canyonero, not a completely different model. Only room for one Land Cruiser!

Haha, yeah I mostly glossed over that. I guess I see any needed suggestions to Toyota to be in a different class of vehicle.
