So I am in the market after being out for over 2 years. Question for the Mud brain trust. Assuming the same mileage and condition (low miles -both in the low 40k and excellent condition), how much more would you pay for the '16 lx over the '15 lx? I am seeing about a $3-4k difference. Worth the extra for the newer model? I don't really care about the looks so that is not a factor and color is also not a factor.
Also- not looking to do the same mods I did to my 100 series (the Moab Brewery truck). Probably just some sliders and maybe a bumper after I tear the stock one off.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
PS- Anyone looking for a '12 BMW M3 convertible?

For me, the 2016+ LC just looks great! Less Highlander-ish. More like the LC 80 in appearance.

For LC:

2020+: new front differential design…maybe better/stronger differential carrier??

2018+: KDSS bolt change, automatically power-folding outside mirrors, late-2018s have new radiator design, late-2018s have capacitive touch screen on center display, powered lift gate, non-mandatory rear entertainment, newer transmission software (flashable on 2016-2017), and new key (very cool) design.

2016+ LC also gains bigger front brakes, 8-speed auto, semi-aniline leather of the LX, and has better buttons arrangement than prior years.

16 hands down.

Ahem, I belieb he said lx?

Also OP , @TeCKis300 has the geek down on all the differences.

But really I just love both these guys in one thread :).

Sorry- I just can't leave well enough alone! Thanks for all your input!!

15 - biggest advantage = aftermarket compatibility / LC likeness.

16 - basically everything else. Including real wood that won’t peel.

Great, something else to look forward to

Its an unfortunate side effect of being the “best built machine in human existence“. totally common and normal If you search Mud.

The looks issue is subjective. The 6 speed vs 8 speed also seems subjective. What is not subjective is better brakes and more safety features in the 16+ LX. Also, the move to a mouse type device in the 16+ LX to control the functions on the screen. I want everyone to want a 16+, because I want a 2013-2015 and I want the prices to tank. So that's my bias.

Can you swap a capacitive screen onto a 2016?

AliExpress have some with full android features
I have an android unit integrated but the stock screen sucks. The Tesla screens are too much. Just looking for an improved solution over my 2016 display if I could swap in a 2018+ without any hassle.

Yes, android black box, not a complete solution.
Check this

On some videos they showed touchscreen on main display and youtube on rear monitors.

I strongly preferred the 2013-2015 mainly due to my preference of the interior styling and price. When I was looking earlier this year I couldn’t find one in the condition I liked. So I moved up in price and had a large choice of good conditions LXs. I could actually be picky about the color I wanted and I’m thrilled to get exactly what I was looking for.
