Does anyone know if the stock access cab truck has the wiring harness installed for the rear back-up camera?

I know the mirror has the screen in it and I have noticed there is a harness going into the tail gate but the dealership assures my gf's dad that its not for the camera..... funny thing is the truck came with the blank off plugs to cap the harness if you decide to take off the tail gate....

The reason I ask is because instead of getting the side step bars he opted for the backup camera.... they installed a cheap "find at your local store" camera that mounts to the license plate which makes no sense to me since it was supposed to be a 300$ + 100$ cash upgrade

To me it sounds like he is getting walked all over to be nice...

Thanks if anyone can help!

According to the information I have, the LCD display in the rearview mirror was discontinued for 2014 models and uses the display of the radio/navigation instead. A 2013 would have the mirror, and the wiring may be there, but I've found it hard to know without looking. There was no accessory camera available from Toyota, so any parts would have to be researched individually and someone familiar with the EWD would have to take a look at the truck to see what else is needed.

That's really weird they'd do a "DIY" kind of job for putting these in, especially as a dealership. Where does the video feed come out of?

Agree w ToyotaDon: 14 models have camera image in the nav screen.
