Looking for a 13-15 LX is pissing me off. Wife wants parchment interior and no black exterior and that's seriously making the search difficult. I've been looking for 4 months. Thinking now I should just look at a 2016+ and go that route because there seems to be a lot more inventory. The $10k-15k delta for a 16 vs a 15 is putting me off a bit, though. Anyone think the extra is worth it?

This truck is not going to see any serious offroading. My 100 will do that. This is for the wife. Will put on some all terrain tires and probably swap out the rims. That's about it. What say you, MUD?

If this is going to be your wife. I suggest introducing her to autotrader or cars.com and tell her to pick something. Don't play the game. She can pick out a few that she likes and you can qc her picks

This is the vehicle version of where do you want to go for dinner.

How about option A... No
How about option B...No
How about option C...No
I give up, I don't care where we eat....You are no help.

Nationwide there are lots of ‘13-“15 with parchment and white, red, or grey exterior. How about simply picking one with a good history from the nearest Lexus dealer and having it shipped.

Exactly what I did. Found my one owner dealership serviced in Texas.

Edit: Wait, red exterior??

Yup, a red LX is on cars.com. I think it was a '14.

She just wants veto power, and otherwise doesn't really care. She has always been this way. I'm the one that wants a 200, but she has driven one and likes them.

Will they ship without me purchasing first? I'm not buying anything i haven't checked out first, and i also don't want to fly right now. But i will pay for shipping. And i have a trade. All things making it tougher right now.

Carmax will ship, but they have no supply. I found one in Dallas at an Autonation dealer, but someone bought it before they would ship it. Carvana had no inventory. I assume i need a nationwide group like that to do what i need, right?

Never have had this much trouble buying a car.

2015 LX 570 is the Sweet Spot in all the 200 series LX’s. Last of the good looking ones. With a very dependable 6 speed trans, I bought based on quality and reliability.
That's why i want one. Agree on looks, although the upgraded tech in the 16+ would be nice.

Some of the upgraded tech is helpful during drives (convenience and safety). Nice to have IMO.

I suspect any Lexus dealer will not ship without purchase. If you 1) want to check one out personally before purchase and 2) have specific years, 3) colors, 4) history, 5) miles 6) condition, and 7) can't fly, you will of course be very limited in selection and will simply have to be more patient. That may force the decision to spend more and/or accept the '16+ front end. I hope you don't have to play too much "guess again" on vehicles with your wife!

We just ran into the same situation, got a 13 semi locally

If she doesnt care, and you are the one that wants the 200, why not just dump the 100 and get what you want?

Given the odd time that we are in, may I suggest just considering a third party inspection in what ever area that the car is for sale and based upon the findings, just buying the car and having it shipped directly to your location.

As for the trade, regardless of if you sell it to the local carmax or take it to the dealer that has the vehicle you have in mind, you are going to get low balled, as dealers just manipulate the numbers to make it appear as you are getting top dollar for your trade.

The 100 is for my kids to learn to drive, so it's a 3rd car. She doesn't like her QX80 so we're swapping that for the 200.

Yeah, I get the numbers game. But in CO, you get to deduct the trade in from your sales taxes paid on the new car, but only if you trade it in to a dealer. Since wife's car is worth $32k or so, that's $2.5k I would lose if I do the deal separately, plus I then have the brain damage of having to sell a car myself.

It took me almost 1 year to find a >‘15 with parchment interior and other than black interior. I ended up with pearl white with parchment interior with 20k miles and drove 2 hours to get. Could not be happier, especially with updated radar cruise and a nicer interior.

We did the same thing and ended up spending the extra $$ for a 16+. I think it is worth it.
Definitely going to drive one when it pops up nearby.

Finally got out and drove a 2017 today. It felt significantly slower than a 13-15 and Car & Driver backs me up. They had the 15 at 6.5 to 60 and the 16 at 7.2. That's a huge difference and really changes the character of the car, IMO. It felt really sluggish. Between that and the terrible joystick, I'll stick with my search for a 13-15.
