A lot of plans are being made behind the scenes, so to speak. I know I am planning and working on the rig on a daily basis towards the goal of Rubithon. I speak with Andy every week or so talking about the 'Con.

And I am super excited.

Best.

Snow Pack No Pack...I hope we have a redo on last year's weather. That was the best Rubicon yet!

:hhmm:
I knew i have seen that rig somewhere before...... :steer: .......wheelin

Can't wait to go up for my second rubithon and take my daughter on her first wheeln' trip. Hope to do Glenn's run again and hopefully no more busted knuckle studs.:grinpimp:

Yes, we are securing an alternative date for Rubithon due to the 162% of normal snow pack. While the melt in April and May will obviously play an important role, we also realize we need to allow enough advance time for notification and change of plans for attendees. I'll keep everyone posted, especially those who have already registered.

Expect more details on or about 4/11. (you get the 411 on 4/11.)

Currently, everyone is rescheduling their events, and unfortunately, Rubithon does not get top billing.

If I had to guess... I'd say mid August.

This is all very tentative at this point in time.

I was wondering how the snow would effect this years schedule...now to free up August....

Thanks for the update Tony. This information is important for those of us coming from out-of-state and the necessity to make alternative life plans.

Now, I just gotta convince CDan to give me 10 days off in August if plans change.

Yes, the entire Rubithon team is aware that we need to allow enough time for folks to augment their plans.

There are not easy decisions for us.

However, in the Rubicon vicinity, snow depth 177 inches, 65.3% water. Pack is still condensing at 6" per day, will continue until approx 50% and then the water will let loose. The pack is still pretty mushy.

American river area... 177"
Yuba area... 173"

Deep, deep, deep.

last year was about 140% of normal... and we had a cold April and May.

I am loving the positive attitude, THIS is what wheeling is about! Which reminds me that it is time to get working on the truck again.

well not to be a downer on this positive attitude...

but...

as of 4/11, there is no official schedule yet (for anyone). Mark A Smith Off Road and crew have blocked out some dates to move their events (Jeep USA and Jeepers Jambo) and as owners, they have preferrential treatment.

Then there to 3 others in front of us, two weddings and one event.

The person who does our scheduling is leaving for Tennessee, and we will not know our weekend till April 22nd or even as late as the 29th.

August is virtually locked out and the available weekends are booked with about 2 or 3 events going on simultaneously. I don't want that type of shared experience, and am not interested in booking Rubithon on a weekend with 3 other events (Dirty Dozen would not be ours, etc.)

July is spotty, and the official weekend they offered my was the 3 day weekend in September... but as we all know, that conflicts with our other Toyota event at Deer Valley. And... two weeks later we would be back with Marlin... just too tight.

To be brutally honest, this might be a year to relocate the event to a new venue, ask Marlin to double up on his event, ... or even cancel entirely for this year (take a break).
Or...
Base out of the group camp before Loon, and let folks do day shots on the trail. (appealing)
Or...
shoot for June regardless and simply make it a brutal snow run (*** it, lets go)
Or...
move it to the Hammers. (in summer! Yuk.)

While dates are in limbo, all other planning and efforts are continuing.

Stay tuned... you know as much as I do. I suggest no set plans or non refundable plane tickets yet.

samy, my positive offroader attitude is with you....and the flight tickets i can't refurb help me a lot to have this attitude :)

idea : if we burn a J..P and we launch it on the trail in front of us...the snow should melt no ?

loon lake picture now (from pirate 4x4 board)... i understand "lot of snow"
