So did you guys go?

I borrowed my buddies tow rig and had some problems with it, it is an 89 suburban and is having issues so I didn't make it, super bummed:bang:

So we should use Wilgus as our campground? (it is a nice place)

I think so... I looked at a couple other places in the area and this one looked like it had the most to offer with nice size sites and right on the river. (also dog friendly)

We reserved for both Friday and Saturday night.

The VT side is essentially what we did last year, but I have no idea on the NH side, Dave R. ran the trails, maybe he'll chime in.

Hmm... I'll gladly comment if someone can tell me which trails you guys are planning to use. There's some pretty tough stuff out that way, but plenty of stock-firendly too. Someone could easily string together an easy/moderate or moderate/hard run, depending on what they're looking to do. Is Gary choosing the trails? If not let me know who is, and I'll PM them to compare notes.

P.S. And, we really should compare notes. Just remembered I'm going to be in the same area (on the NH side of the border) that very same weekend with 15-20 FJNortheasters.

Gary has plotted it all out, I've got his map here, Dave I'll hit you up later today with details so we can compare. It doesn't sound like we will have a vey big group so I don't anticipate any issue staying out of each others way. We are planning VT side on Sat., NH side on Sunday.

Sounds good. Once I see your map I'll comment if I can.

Note: There's been a lot of logging going on in one area in particular (near a trail Gary had mentioned to me by name a couple months ago).

Makes it harder to find and stay on the *legal* Class VI roads that are there, but it can still be done if desired. However, some of the resulting terrain changes might be "good" or "bad" depending on which end of the tough scale you're hoping for ;)

I'm sure the resulting changes are just fine. I'll be there with my truck which has a winch and I'm sure one other will have one also.

Lets try and avoid the chicken little rantings from last years FG about a simple water crossing shall we.

I'm sure we'll all be fine. Now some might find them selves pushing outside their comfort zone but that can be far more rewarding than playing it safe.

Huh!?!? Aren't you the one who asked "how demanding" the run was going to be?

Anyway, let's give Dave a chance to share the trail plan with me. If I have run the trails in the NH part of the plan recently I'll share my comments with those that are interested.

You can ignore them, or take them with a Chicken Little grain of salt ;)

Trying to get a handle on numbers for the VT run.... if you are coming, can you please drop me a PM and let me know how many trucks and how many people? Thanks.

PS. I may be looking for an open seat.

So I'm an ASS, what's new?

My first post was right after a rather invasive surgery and I wasn't sure how I would heal and since then have had a couple more follow ups with the DR and have a better idea of what I can do.

Since these are class 6 roads it shouldn't be a problem and if it is I'll walk the trail and let someone else drive the truck.

At FG there was this big tado about a water crossings and people were running around warning me repeatedly and in some cases suggesting I not let some people drive the course. It was really no big deal and the sky didn't fall.

We've got some new people coming out with us who might have already paid for reservations and I don't see the need to cause them any alarm especially if it's unjustified.

I went out with Gary and Dave last year and they were great at letting everyone know what was coming and how to approach it. My son drove his own truck and had a blast.

I sure this trip will be similar.

I have been away for a couple of weeks and just got back to a computer. Both days of our run will be intermediate. 33's, some lift and a locker would be nice (but not absolutly neccessary) a little mud, some rocks some easy class 4/6 roads.

Saturday- about 20 miles of paved, then on to class 4 roads with some good scenery, lunch at the Long Trail Brewery then more class 4's and back within 10 miles of Ascutney(I think we covered about 35 miles of trails last year)

Sunday- meet in Ascutney and more of the same, end in Claremont or Newport about mid afternoon, and we can alter our route to let some people head out earlier
I plan on running some of the NH stuff this week to check on the logging
I will be back in the states on saturday if anyone has any questions

Hopefully the leaves will cooperate, it's just starting to turn here but these next few cold nights should jump start the foliage. I really enjoyed this run last year, Gary really does all the work planning it out. ;) I just tag along.
