I need to use my truck to tow my boat. The boat and trailer package weighs approx 10,000 lbs.

I am going to get a brake controller to run the electric brakes, but I am wondering about the towing capacity.

Do i need to get a special hitch set-up? Do I need a frame-mounted hitch, or can I just tow from the bumper?

Anyone have an answer?

Thanks!

Jessus, I don't know of any trucks I would want to bumper pull a 10,000lbs trailer.

The Tundra Crewmax Platinum comes with an integrated tow hitch. But the tow rating is 10,100lbs. Not sure where you live, but if I lived anywhere near the mountains or needed to pull any long distances I would be looking for a bigger diesel.

Get a good brake controller and air bags.

Ryan.

thanks ryan

i'm in ohio and it's pretty flat.

and i guess i phrased the question wrong...but it sounds like the integrated hitch should work fine

The hitch it likely rated at 5K... the tow rating is WITH a weight distributing hitch...
