I have a 2008 Sequoia with rear air suspension.

I installed the Tandem Offroad rear air bag spacers. Everything went fine with the install until I tried to adjust the rear airbags.

Long story short, no matter what I do, the passenger side is always 1" higher than the driver's side.

I spoke with Tandem and tried their recommendations. I got an account on TSM to look at the FSM for adjustment and trouble shooting. I had a former Toyota Tech friend with a Snapon Solus come over and look at it. Replaced the suspension computer, sensors and valves.

Nothing has changed and everything checks out but passenger side is still 1" higher.

From what I understand from the FSM, each side is independently adjustable. The issue is that when I adjust either side, both sides will either raise or lower the rear of the vehicle with the pass side still 1" higher.

Anyone dealt with this?

I have done everything short of replacing the pump assembly but at that point I will go with another option...

I haven't dealt directly with this, but I did a quick Google search to see what the air bag setup looks like ( I have all FSM's for the 2008 at the shop). As far as I could tell by looking at the solenoid/ distribution valve, you should only be able to pump up or deflate both rear bags at the same time. It appears to have a supply line from the pump with a diaphragm style valve controlling air supply into the solenoid, then it just splits the supplied air 2 ways from a separate diaphragm controlled valve.

I assume you followed Tandems instructions

A quick read of the installation procedure has me thinking that you should try disconnecting the battery, pushing in the brake pedal to discharge the electrical system, chock the wheels, jack up the rear from the center of the diff support, check that the correct parts are in the correct locations and everything is properly oriented. Make sure the arms on the sensors are properly keyed to the sensors. Then lower the vehicle, connect the battery drive around the block a few times and re-check for level. If you still have one low side, try re-adjusting the ride height arm for that side.

I don't have the Tandem Offroad kit, but did adjust my factory level sensors to gain lift without issue. You should be able to adjust the arms "live" and notice the changes in ride height. Also, you can try and disconnect a swaybar endlink while adjusting ride height as the bar can have an effect on side to side height.

Thanks for the input.

I wish that it worked like everyone else's rig, but I always seem to have the random issue no one else has seen yet.

I have been fighting this for the last few months by trouble shooting and replacing parts. I spoke with Tandem a few months ago and followed their instructions without luck. I tested the new sensors per the FSM and they checked out. After replacing the solenoid valve on the frame with no change, I figured it could be a fault with the suspension computer. I replaced it from a wrecked sequoia with zero change. I tested the lines for blockages and leaks without finding anything. Checked for codes per the FSM... no codes.

I guess I will just deal with it and leave the post here in case anyone else come across this issue in the future or if I find a solution.

Also, for reference (from how I understand the system works), there appears to be 2 valves in the pump and the solenoid valve controls which side of the vehicle is being adjusted. The pump has a valve for inflation from the pump and a valve to release pressure. The solenoid valve has two solenoids with 2 dimensionally different plungers that are activated to allow air to flow (or release) to each side. From what I read in the FSM and see from others, each side should be independently adjustable based upon the sensors on each side. In my case, when adjusting the driver's side, the passenger's side also raises to be 1" higher that whatever I have adjusted to the pass side. Same story goes for the passenger's side.

I have a feeling that this might have been a long-standing issue with this vehicle as when I bought it, I noticed that the suspension sensors were adjusted to the maximums on each side, one high and one low.

Thanks again-
