Sure you can :)
I think the price for my Submariner is around $5K US now...I think I paid about half that many years ago. No services and still keeps within COSC standards.
.

I ordered a new GMT master 2 (super case) as thick as the seadweller and bigger than the current submariner. It is now $6,500.. a far cry from my older GMT 2 I bought in 1999 for $3,000. Same watch but with new enhancements. Then again, it is a better watch it replaced (daytona bracelet, submariner crown, laser ceramic bezel etc...) Rolex sure appreciate in price. The last sub I bought was up there too. $4.8K 3 years ago.

The new model TLC looks good & I'm sure it is a great vehicle that is a technological 'dynamo'...BUT, IMO it is as exciting as a dry bread sandwich. It looks totally generic now. BUT, as others have stated, profit is 'king' and if it sells and reaches Toyota's internal sales goals...then it is a 'success' in their eyes. I just feel the 'offroading' LC owners community might have a different perspective on what constitutes a successful new rollout / design...IMO

Look on the bright side, naysayers, at least it is not COMPLETELY covered in chrome. Because that makes for the ugliest cars on the road.

Thanks for these links. I'll bet Toyota has already corrected new engine builds. Bummer for the first 30K.
I luv the one thread that stated if it was happening to GM, Ford or Dodge, it wouldn't even be in the news. :)

ITundra's broken camshafts on the 5.7 engine (same one as the new 08 LC and LX570).

In my quest for buying an '08 I have just discovered (directly from Toyota) that only about 15 camshafts had broken and the problem was rectified almost immediatly. It's now a mute issue and we should not be concerned....and I am not.

You shouldn't be concerned anyway. The Japanese 3UR-FEs dont use the US suppliers to make their cams.

those pictures make me sad....what happened to real land cruisers?

x2

WTF were they thinking  did they get lazy designing this thing and just slap on a lc bezel an a rav 4 truly a sad day. RIP LC 1951-2007

this picture was taken at the Auto Show in Caracas, Venezuela...
great 200!!!

I just hope to see betters from Sema... :flipoff2:

what a low down dirty shame. it is not what i had envisioned for a "new" landcruiser. it looks like a japanese escalade. all it needs now is the 24" yo yo yo's with spinners.

So far, I think this picture on Toyota's site shows the best "profile" or the best representation of the dimensions--a lot of pics I've seen do make it look kinda like a new Highlander... This pic shows the front end being more vertical. I actually like the looks of it in this shot.

Of course, the plasti-bumpers still don't seem to lend themselves to aftermarket replacements...

Well it's a helluva lot nicer and better built than every other Cruiser Series (exceot for maybe the 100...maybe....it will probably best it too).

:D

I like my lever......but I can do without it. Come on, can't you? :)

No, no lever, no purchase.

I went and looked at the H3 Hummer for grins when it first came out. I got in with the sales manager, sat there for 5 seconds and told him "Nope, it doesn't have a shifter for 4 wheel drive". He looked at me like I was nuts, like I was supposed to be happy it was 'so simple' to just push a 4lo / 4hi button. Yeah right.

I had seen pics of the 2008 Cruiser on this site and others, but I hadn't the interest in 2008 Highlaner pics. I actually saw a 2008 Highlander over the weekend, and I thought it was the new cruiser!!!! It seemed too small (especially next to my 80), but I wasn't sure what I was looking at. SCARY.

What kind of sense does that make?

so somebody drives a FJ60 or FZJ80 or even an FJ Cruiser. They love them. they are capable, but if you cuold buy the same model in the nextr model uear without a lever you don't buy? I could care less if my 80 or 100 had a button over a lever. It wouldn't change the truck or it's capabilties whatsoever.

EDIT: And by the way....no disrepect here....but I've wheeled with both and I give the H3 the edge out of the showroom, no question. Plus, from the factory you can get a lift, 35's and a front locker...all warranted. I'd take the push button 4-Lo any day (though not a Hummer).

I believe people are having flash backs to when a button may or may not engage because it is an electrical connection to a switch. It was even worst when they could not engage 4wd because the button did not work. With a lever it works (most of the time) because it is directly connected to the tcase.

Oh, I hear ya. But to say it's a big disadvantage or espeically, I'd not buy? Come on!

My CDL button has worked on all my 4WD vehicles for the lift I have owned them. Failure is extremely small. IF my 100 had a 4-LO button it would still be the Killer Cruiser it is.
