I don't see any RAV in it, but I do see some GX...

I hope Yota got the memo on the turbo diesel offerings for the states.

It looks ok. I am not overally impressed. In my opinion, The RR and RRS are still the best looking SUVs available. Maybe Toyota could put a RR shell on a 130 series chassis and then we would have the best of both worlds.

Also, the interior materials look cheap compared to the LX570. May just be the pictures. I really hope that Yota is using the real looking fake wood in the LC and not the fake looking fake wood. The pictures here appear to show fake looking fake wood.

The GL320 CDI is looking better and better if they can keep the intercooler hoses from blowing off.

Umh, excuse me Mr. Toyota, but where the hell is my transfer case lever???

Damnit, I didn't want a selector switch...that sucks.

This may be the beginning of the end.

Well I suppose we could go back to cable actuated lockers or something like that. Spliter boxes have been air or electric operated for how many years, electric lockers, air lockers, might as well have electric transfer/splitter I reckon. This 2008 is going to be all electric everything I expect. (and plastic everything and should I say "expensive to replace electronic everything) I don't think they make 40 series versions any more unfortunately.

the front of the LX looks much better, in my opinion. reminds me of the cayanne a bit.

those pictures make me sad....what happened to real land cruisers?

I don't mind the front clip except the FJ bug style lights. The FJ Hood I like.

Will the cup holders hold a 20oz pop though ?

and will they price them at a point where they sell more than a couple thousand a year in NA. If they don't sell 20k a year for a few years then getting a used one about ten years old will be difficult.

Too bad they'll never sell them with no fake wood, cloth seats and no NAV/ DVD/WEB based disco unit. Price them competitive with the Suburban/Yukon/Denali and give us a solid, reliable and well built large SUV that's not pretentious.

Needs dual exhaust.

dash and console look surprisingly similar to the 100... Looks like nothing much more than a freshening up, almost....

and as far as aftermarket bumpers, well.....

Just checked this out. Toyota is getting too carried away with their branding, not sure who tells them their vehicles need to look so similar.
Something as iconic as the Landcruiser should have something about it's appearance that is truly unique among other Toyota vehicles, the 08 is just like the Camry or Avalon of the sedan lines. Just slightly bigger and better. Too bad. Even though people bitched about the 80s and 100s when they came out, they were unique looking among other Toyota products.

Damn, they sure have turned into grocery getters! For honors sake, they should dump the Land Cruiser name because they sure dont look up to it anmore.

Hi All:

Too bad we won't be offered the "LC76" LWB wagon (five door) that comes with the new 4.5Litre V-8 diesel engine!

Regards,

Alan

I like it, although i wish they offered the Diesel here in the states. I wish there was a better long term solution to the economy problem than what is offered here in the states (a Hybrid would be a non-starter in an already 5500 lbs truck).
A Diesel V-6 (or I-6) Engine and aluminium body would be ideal from a weight and power package perspective.

were going to probably upgrade from my wife's G500 to this and i'll sell my Cruiser for something else.

I do call it an upgrade from the G500 (which i kiler truck) it just does not fit what we do (admitatly we do not do much wheeling, if at all any more)

Yeah i know i am in the minority here but what do i know after owning the 40, 60, 2x 80's, a 100, an FJC, and a few others (jeep, and the G500 to name a few).
