I'm looking at this 2007 LX470 w/ 122k miles at $19k: Cadillac Vehicles at Morrie's Golden Valley Cadillac

Salesman sent me the attached pictures of the undercarriage. It's a local vehicle to me and I'll be keeping it here in Minnesota. For those outside the rust belt, I'm sure this looks like unabated cancer. For those who live and drive in northern climates where winter road salt is a way of life, is this amount prohibitive? Any insight from those who have bought or own a rusty 100-series?

Doesn’t seem terrible given the location. Probably need to probe around a bit more and have someone qualified look at it to really determine any issues.

How much is too much is based on personal preference and price. You set the limit/threshold on both.

thought to myself, "That's not too bad", 'til I got to the rear shot

Seems like a premium price to pay, but that's just me. Assuming you are looking at lower mileage bc you intend to drive it for a long time?

Find a higher mileage, cleaner truck. When you bring it back to your state, fluid film it before winter, i once chased after low mileage, i now know to get a cleaner truck instead. Learn from people's mistakes.

Appreciate the insights.

Just looking for a 2006-07 mainly. There’s also a 2006 LC100 w/ 222k locally, but I’m assuming that’ll be in even worse condition as the Toyota dealership sent it to auction.

👆this is good advice. Buy a mall cruiser from Texas. Pay the ~$1,300 to have it shipped and you’ll probably be happier in the long run.

Forget fluid film, it smells and will continue to do so. I have a southern 100 and it was truly a amazing undercarriage. I live in Cleveland Ohio, couple light winters so far... And before plus! After winter I get Krown (Canadian) oil spray done. Best $200 a year I can spend. Looks amazing still. Don’t cheap out, spring time is when things rust, Get it applied a second time. In 10 years you will still have a vehicle. Also maintenance records and rust free is what I looked for.
