I Know this topic has likely been discussed before, But i am looking for insight into the Axle codes on the 4th gen 4Runner's.
Long story short, I have a growling rear diff , I suspect worn bearings as a result of neglect from PO.
Sourced a candidate 3rd member from a 2009 V8 4Runner cheap at my local junkyard.
The picture posted is off the doorjamb of my Wife's 4runner. Axle code A01A.
Despite my best efforts I am just going in circles. It seems as though all V8 4runner's (maybe ?) came geared with 3.73's However I can't find anything to back this claim up.
Referencing the Axle code has proven immensely confusing as Toyota has changed the coding multiple times over the last several decades.
Open to advice from any fellow 4th Gen owners who have undergone similar repairs.
