Hi All!
I just sold my wife’s 2005 Sequoia and picked up a cherry 2005 Quad Cab 4x4 Limited. It has 65K miles and is in incredible condition! 2 owners west coast Oregon truck, with front hitch receiver for snow plow.
question?
With no timing belt changed after 15 years.....should I be worried about getting it done immediately or wait till it hits the book 90K miles?
I will post some pics later.
Thanks
Jason

Every 10 years or 90k miles.
I am definitely over the 10 year mark. 🤨

I believe the 2005 and 2006 first gen tundras have the 4.7 liter VVTI engines. They are considered interference type engines and bad things may happen when you are driving and the timing belt breaks. The non-VVTI 4.7 engines are also considered interference type engines but are more forgiving if the timing belt breaks when driving. I would get it changed as soon as possible like Jgrauman has suggested. You may also remove the passenger side of the engine top timing cover and check the belt for cracks or wear.
