You are correct. The electician confirmed. They are in a series, which is why they both go at the same time.After 7 years of staring into the darkness where the rear fan & side mirror defoggers switches were, I sourced a used hazard/antenna/CDL switch (8401060480) that had the same bulb w/ brown rubber holder. It was a bit of a struggle to remove the back plate of the circuit board, but finally managed to pry it off w/o breaking anything. Now all switches light up as it should. However, one thing I realized was that one of the bulb I removed works. The conclusion I have come to is these are wired/circuited in series. So make sure you test both bulbs once you remove them to make sure both are not burnt out

I don't think there is a direct OE replacement for the backlight bulbs as mentioned previously in this thread.
Per @Razorback40 's suggestion, I bought the 3mm, 14v, 80mA bulbs (as confirmed by @Slickspawn to work).
I'll be threading the leads into the brown block that attaches to the board. I have 2 lights out on the lower panel as well as the CDL and antenna button backlights.

Just finished up this job. Definitely not as intimidating as I thought it would be. Once you get the board apart, rethreading the bulbs is a piece of cake.
I went ahead and preventively replaced all 4 bulbs with the 80mA bulbs. While I was in there I did the Hazard/CDL/Antenna bulbs as well.
The only issue I had was I accidentally ripped one of the green caps. I put that one behind the blank button and was really careful with the remaining caps.
If you’re like me and OCD about bulbs, don’t be afraid to tackle this job.

I've been following this thread trying to find replacement globes for the climate control knobs on my 2005 LC. Mine appear different than everyone else's and are removeable (no soldering required) they just twist in/out. Does anyone have anything similar? If you know where I can order some more I'd be stoked!
