Hi, new to the site, just bought a 2005 Land Cruiser.

Noticed the other night while driving, the rear fan & side mirror heater switch green lights are out. The switch lights up when the push the switch, but the green backlit light is out. Reached out to a dealer & they said it was not a replaceable bulb & that the bulbs are on the climate control circuit board.

Is there a way I can be replace the bulbs rather than replacing the entire circuit board, which I was today is $600+?

Any help comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

Those are all T4 bulbs. I ordered a complete LED replacement kit online. Changing mine from green to white to match the dash lights.

Here's a great thread outlining the different bulb types for the dash, gauge cluster and center console....

Dash lights almost gone.....

Clock = 2 x T5

Climate control knobs, center diff lock = 6 x T4

Hazard switch = 1 x T4 (white)

Seat Heaters, PWR/2nd, rear windows = 5 x T3

Shifter and ignition = 2 x #74

They are plug & play, not soldered?
Where did you get the T3 replacement bulbs form?

Cheers.

SuperbrightLEDS is the best for those. They are all plug/play. Remember, if installing LEDS, they are sensitive to polarity. Install them, if they don't come on, reverse them (there's no easy way to tell visually).

My climate control cluster is not the dials, would the bulbs be any different?

I assume so. But, you know what they say about assume.... Best way to confirm would be to pull the panel and visually confirm the bulb type. T4 is pretty standard in this application, so I'd be shocked if it were any different here (by all appearances, they use the exact same buttons as on my 98)

Will pull out the unit this weekend & confirm before I order. Thanks for all the help.

are you sure those light up when they are not engaged? Mine do not. On mine, none of those three on the bottom light up unless they are pressed. When they are pressed the two outside buttons light up orange colored and the rear fan is green.

On mine, the rear windshield defogger (far left) lights up, the one to the right of that is a blank, the other two are dark.

I'm even more confused than before when I tried to figure this out a few months ago. I thought all three should be backlit with the light switch on. But none of them are. I assumed that odds were against them having a backlight unless all three went out.
I've had this all apart two times. I don't suggest doing that unless you're really bored.

Any chance you remember seeing the bulbs when you pulled it out?

Long shot...any pics?

so. page AC 158-159 is the only thing I see. Basically it says if no indicator while operating then replace the board blah blah blah

the second page refers to non nav hvac control buttons and it specifically mentions replacing bulbs. I'm almost 100% sure the lower button bulbs are soldered into the board. those are replaceable if you're into soldering. Look at the highlighted buttons top of second pic, makes you believe those ones are replaceable but there's no mention of the lower bulbs.

I don't have pics of that board. Only the stereo and screen boards. There's two side screws and two uppers with guide pins. Pretty easy to get out. Take pics if you do. I don't believe there's anything wrong, IF they light up when pressed. But I'm not 100% on that.

That's what I though too, that the NAV unit bulbs were soldered, not replaceable. It seem like that from the first illustration, P/N 84014A, which is what the dealer quoted as +$600.:crybaby:
When I have some time, will take the dash apart to see. Will post pics.

I will need to buy the FSM.

Thanks again for your help.

on some other & even older Lexus models there's sometimes an LED soldered to the inside of these types of switches that providea the night-time back illumination.... maybe take it apart :hmm:

@Shikha did you ever pull apart the dash and figure out the bulb situation?

Any updates on this? I have the same two bulbs to the right out. Left is on.
