Did you get the frame replaced by Toyota? If there is any rust, they will replace the frame on the Tundra's. For some reason they were simply buying the Tacoma's back, but installing new frames on the Tundra's.....

The tundra issues were more with 00-03 but there's a chance later years also had some corrosion problems. I think Toyota offered rust proofing spray on the later years rather than frame replacement because the problem wasnt as bad. May want to call a local dealer and check.

An 04 that's needed a frame swap? Am I missing something

Yes you are! The frames on those trucks are defective when exposed to salt. Toyota stepped up and replaced the frames...at least on east coast trucks.

I have never heard of that or been notified by Toyota, I really have never looked at the frame, maybe I will look at it

Are you guys thinking of tacomas? Toyota boughtback my 96 because of the frame.

I may look at that if I have corrosion, but a am pretty sure I am out of warranty for corrosion? Being that I am looking to get 6kobo for my truck I am not sure it will help me, I drove it off the showroom floor with 9 miles and have never had it in service except for timing belt every 100 k, it owes me nothing.

Good luck with the sale! Also I don't believe that there is a mileage warranty issue, they were doing it for all the trucks regardless of the mileage.

The Tacoma buyback/replacement ended December 31 and had been going on for a while. Not all of them got new frames. The dealer would inspect any tacoma from 98-04 for "rust perforation". If the truck failed and was a 98-00 they would buy it back for 150% kbb value. 01-04 tacomas would either get a new frame, or get anti corrosion undercoating depending on the severity.

I'm not as familiar with the tundra recall. I know it started with 00-03 because the rear crossmember would rust and there are stories of the spare tire falling off going down the road. They eventually included the whole frame in inspections. It wasn't as common in 04+ but did affect some and Toyota paid to apply undercoating to trucks who passed inspection.

It may be worthwhile to take yours in. Depending on the last time you had it in there they may have automatically had to check your frame. For tacomas, if it was checked during the inspection period the vehicle would be covered for 15 years after the date into service. So if it's the same for a tundra, and it was inspected, your frame is covered under the program until around 2019

I think this is also correct about tacoma mileage. As long as you owned the truck for a year and it was running it was covered. I'm not sure if it's the same for tundras though. And there are always special cases depending on different things.

You learn something new every day, I even had a tocoma before this truck and never heard about it, I guess I don't pay attention to my new daily drivers as I do my 60

One more bump for mud I have 5k offer I will be taking next week unless someone on here wants it
