Fellow Mudders, I'm looking to find a good home for my 2004 Thundercloud Metallic (silver) Land Cruiser. I'm a long-time member of this community and this is my third LC (trying to catch up to a lot of you elders out there!); I bought and sold my first one back in 2004-2005 before I knew what I had (a '97 Collector's Edition), and have held on to the FJ62 I bought back in '06 (see build thread in my signature block). This '04 is in great shape all around: great body with minor, expected blemishes; very strong 4.7L V8; and excellent interior. Undercarriage has minor rust to be expected from a 15yo Virginia truck, but she has many, many more years and miles to give.

This one was held by its original owner in Northern VA from the original date of purchase to November 2017. It was traded in to the AutoNation chain in NoVa, and I snapped it up the first day they listed it for over $14K with about 182,000 miles on it. It looked like the owners had never used the back seats or the third row; both sets of seats and the carpet were pristine. I was told it was an older couple and they had always garaged it, and it appeared that could be the case. The dealer replaced the CV axles/boots during the turnaround, and it was wanting for nothing when I got it.

I bought it to complement my FJ62. The 62 had been my DD and my the primary vehicle my family used for road trips and camping trips. After a while, I decided it would be smart to transport my wife and kids in something with more modern safety features, hence the 100 series. I proceeded to build it out into what I really wanted it to be, though practically speaking it was overkill for our needs (like none of us have ever done that). I wanted it to be something we would take into the backcountry, but in reality it never really left the pavement. All of our camping is done in national or state parks, never necessitating even a few hundred yards of dirt road travel. Now that my teenager has a 3rd Gen 4Runner, my wife has a newer CR-V, and I still have the FJ62, I'm looking to get something more practical since a new job will have me commuting 120 miles round-trip a couple times a week.

Again, it was bone-stock when I got it but I've put about $10K in it, mostly in upgrades but also including a new charcoal canister, front brake pads, and a few other minor maintenance expenses. The primary upgrades include:

- Ironman FCS lift (shocks and rear springs) purchased from MetalTech; also sway bar extensions and Slee diff drop
- 33" BFG KO2s on 18" Method NV305s (I have all five original 18" wheels and those are included)
- Custom Dual Battery System: Odyssey Extreme 34R-PC1500 Starting Battery, Odyssey Extreme 75/86 PC1230 House Battery, Blue Sea fuses/breakers/bus/accessories, 1000W Inverter, Slee 2nd Battery tray w/ARB Compressor mount (no compressor), 2ga cable, dash-mounted manual switch, Wit's End Andersen Powerpole mount for ARB fridge
- KISS drawer system, carpeted, wings, drawer lights (I also have the original third row seats and they are included)
- MetalTech rock sliders (black powder coat); original running boards are long gone
- Pioneer single-DIN Head Unit in factory slot with retractable 7"touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM (I have a detailed thread on this install); I have the factory head unit that is included so can be reverted to stock if desired
- New Alpine speakers in all doors
- WeatherTech mats front/rear
- USB ports added to back of center console for back seat occupants (I replaced the rear stereo control with the USB port; still have the control and will include)
- All interior lights replaced with LEDs
- K&N air filter

I've done regular oil changes with Mobil 1 oil and filters and I've rotated the tires with each change. Put a new charcoal canister in this year and replaced the front brake pads a couple of months ago. I've already passed VA emissions for this year (not due until Nov).

Timing Belt/Water Pump: this is due. Last replacement was at 112k, so I'm just over the recommended 90K interval. There are a couple of ways I could handle this knowing I'm putting it up for sale: get it done by my own shop (which is OTRAMM in Warrenton, VA) and price some of it into the sale or let the potential buyer use their own shop (and also use that for leverage in the negotiation). Obviously, I'm opting for full transparency here and pricing it into the deal. Also, if I were to keep it I would look at replacing the rotors and pads all around over the next year. Otherwise, she looks and runs great and I wouldn't hesitate to drive her out to HIH next summer.

I'm attaching the service history up to my purchase, as it was always serviced at the AutoNation dealer it was bought from, as well as a current CarFax report to this post along with a couple of lead pics; I will do a separate post for the exterior, interior, undercarriage, engine bay, and minor blemishes. Give me through the end of the long weekend to get the rest posted.

CarFax puts the value, without mods, at $11,870, and the other major sites (KBB, NADA, etc) put the unmodified value in the upper-10K/lower-11K range. Given the mods and service history, I am asking $16,500 OBO for this one. I look forward to answering your questions and I'm willing to discuss via the forum or offline.

Thank you for looking and for your consideration!

Exterior: the exterior and the paint are solid for a 15yo truck. There are minor blemishes in the paint - a few scratches here and there - and some rubbing of the clearcoat where I foolishly used front/rear tie-down straps for my kayak (there will be separate pics for that). I've never had it thoroughly detailed, but I imagine that all of those blemishes would come out with a good power buffing.

There is also a small hole in the plastic grille trim that was there when I got it; no idea how it originally got there.

Limited to five pics, so here are five (I have more on request):

Interior: the interior is in great shape. The leather is still holding up well as is the dash and trim. Carpet is in great shape and is protected front/rear by WeatherTech mats. When I bought it nearly two years ago it looked like no one had ever even sat in the second or third rows. I quickly took out the third row (still have them in storage and they're included) and replaced it with a KISS drawer system. The drawers are carpeted and have interior motion-activated lights. I have drilled holes and added T-nuts on the driver's side of the drawers for an Alu-Cab tilt slide for an ARB fridge.

I replaced the stock head unit (the DIN portion) with a Pioneer single-DIN head unit with retractable touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/hands-free BT/SiriusXM. I posted a detailed thread on this mod, and I love it - would never go back. I had intended to fabricate a trim/shroud to go around the unit but never got around to it and it never ended up bothering me.

There is a very small hole in the passenger seat where the threads are separating - less than an inch long. I'll post that pic on a "blemishes" post.

Here are five interior pics:

And a few more. This one has the rear DVD system but it didn't work when I bought it and I haven't tried to fix it (I think I still have the headsets and remote, though). It actually plays the DVD that's stuck in it, so if you like The Phantom of the Opera you're in luck!

Undercarriage: as I noted, it has been a northern VA truck all it's life so it has seen some snow and some salted roads. I believe it spent a lot of time in a garage for the first 13 years but I don't have a garage and I drove it during the last two winters. Undercarriage rust isn't bad for it's age and is mostly surface rust, but I'll let you judge for yourself:

Engine: bad on me, as I forgot to clean the engine bay before I took pics (I was elsewhere without access to a hose or wet rag). That said, she's clean. You can see the detail on the dual battery system (the braided wiring and the Slee tray).

Wheels: close-ups of the Methods and the BFGs. These are less than two years old (less than 20K miles) and have been rotated regularly. Again, I have the original 18" wheels and those will be included.

Finally, the cosmetic blemishes. Highlighting here the rubbing on the clear coat from the kayak straps; the mystery hole in the plastic grille trim; and the very small stitch separation in the passenger seat. Everything else is normal wear on a 15yo truck.
