How much did they charge to have the cab sent from Vic?

1100 bucks..... I found one in Perth today...always the way.

landed at lunchtime and have been collecting parts.... now waiting on a guy selling stuff to get home

Slow down on buying parts everything will come your way much cheaper if you take your time. Trust me grasshopper. :)

Yep that is correct.......but being on this month on week off contract, I don't get much time at home to tinker.

The bonnet welding is going to be farmed out and I am going to see what it is going to cost to get the panel beater to swap cabs, paint the chassis and everything else.

That will leave me next week off to start fitting all the new mechanical stuff. I want to go over the Great Central Road to Ayers Rock again in September. I was just in my shed and tidying up is a tomorrow job.

It does help I worked over the Easter break and racked up 94 hours of overtime

well started on the shed clean up and only managers to get 1 pallet rack up. Have to go get some extra bits tomorrow to finish the other 2 pallet racks..... going to be another long day.

I ended up driving all over Perth picking up more bits. Picked up 6 GXL rims with tyres, 2 doors and 2 trolley jacks with a lancuser jack thrown in.

I'm surprised your buying stuff from the east coast I always thought Perth was full of ex mine trucks in wrecking yards. There's a good wrecker near me if you need there number shot me a PM. I always had good fortune waiting on stuff to come up as have been known to need stuff straight away and pay good money then a week later find something in better condition for half the price.
Good luck with the build.

0830...I should get out of bed and get organised

2 problems in WA:

1. Businesses are not internet savvy. So hard to find anything online which I need to do on this current work roster.

2. Due to the mining boom everything here had a WA premium tax......... even though the mining boom stopped a year and a half ago it is still often more cheaper to buy and ship from the eastern states.

There are also scavenger wreckers from all over the world buying up used parts, pushing the demand up and thus prices as well.

Well waiting at the airport to fly out again. The week off flew by.

We re-roofed the shed but still have a lot of reorganizing to do. I did get to look at the trays and talk to the paint shop guy and he can't start until my next rostered time off so that in the end is a bonus.

I picked up the new cab first thing this morning so looking forward to sleeping on the plane

Just waiting the last 2 hours until i fly home and get to tinker. Not looking forward to trying to reorganize the shed.......

could try taking it as hand carry

I could just imagine the questions at the airport....... do you have anything to declare..... nope..... that's a big hat sir....... not really

In all seriousness seafreight is generally cheap.... just depends on the import duty costs

I'm just gunna hafta pack myself into the next container we ship over to you guys and pick one up myself! Keep up the good work!

Well 4 weeks goes by and so many things changed........ I was planning on getting stuff done whilst away on 4 week stints but the workshop that was supposed to do the work never responds.

Now the job has been cancelled so back to normal pay...

So to be ready by the deadline I bought a 2011 VDJ single cab ute that I pick up on Tuesday. One bonus is that most the parts I bought fit straight on. Just need to sell my HZJ75, HZJ79 and TJ Jeep so I have some room at the house
