G'Day

I bought a 1HZJ-75 Tray Back last year around May for a trip up to the Kimberlys in Northern Western Australia, back down Ayers rock across the Great Central Road back to Perth. Not a bad trip but really slow in places.

In the quest for a bit more grunt I picked up a 6.2 Chev diesel but then I saw a 2004 1HZJ-79 Tray Back for sale that had the turbo 1HZ in it. The blokes son had managed to turn it turtle on a dirt track so I picked it up relatively cheap. Every body panel except for the bonnet was banged up as it slide down the road on it's roof. My idea was to take the engine out of it and the disc brake rear and put it into my 75.

So next plan was to put the 75 cab onto the 79 Chassis, but find out the 79 cab is a tad longer.................

So plan C, rebuild the 79 :)

Purchased a winch and bullbar from Queensland on the other side of Australia from a wreckers yard. Have to buy a lot of stuff from the East coast

I managed to just get it into my shed after removing the tow bar. I need to rearrange my shed, and finish it (the shed that is)

Found a new cab on the other side of Australia, specifically in Melbourne and had it freighted to Perth and apparently it has arrived... I say apparently as I am doing a FIFO stint on a minesite in the middle of nowhere, month on, 1 week off. So hopefully in around 8 days I can pick it up.

I have to pick up the day I get back to Perth, new doors, timing belt kit, tray, new grille, new indicators, new snorkle, new mirrors, hdt head and block. Only item annoying me is I still need a RH guard/fender

plus everything I have been buying off eBay has to be picked up from my office, which is quite a lot.....

This is the 1HDT engine that I also need to collect after Easter. It needs some care. Was thinking long term but may end up rebuilding it sooner....... thanks honey.

I can't wait to get home..... First item is to rearrange my shed and get the shelves up...going to be a long day

You had better make sure the missus gets a comfortable seat , don't make her sit on the old bench for long trips.

Are these those kits I see on ebay?
ARB sell those seats they put into outback police and ambulance troopies, but they are so expensive. Piratha brand?

I did Great Central Road to Uluru about 10 years ago with my son, great experience.

actually sitting on a mine ite not far from the great central road. We have done a bit of bush bashing between here and Laverton recently as we took a quick trip down to Kalgoorlie for the day.

The work Hilux had a few things fall off due to the rough spots. Loads of cattle and bats with only a few room

Can' wait to be singing "I'm on a jet plane" on Tuesday....... 5 sleeps to go..... but Brightside is 104 hours of overtime this fortnight

and yes apparently those lumps drive you nuts when getting in and out whilst off roading

And in summer they hug your body and make you feel hot.

is that pic of the well bodies stacked on each other in perth? how much are they asking for them?

looking forward to watching your build

yep in Perth..... the prices vary between 2 dealers at 1200 to 1600 dollars.

Just waiting the last 2 hours until i fly home and get to tinker. Not looking forward to trying to reorganize the shed.......

How much did they charge to have the cab sent from Vic?
