People seem to ask higher prices in Colorado for some reason. We used to be a dealer for trailers at work for a long time, so I would follow the different auctions and see how the wholesale side of things work. After a while I wouldn't even look at the Colorado auctions because it was basically retail for anything cool.

Just a hypothesis, but if the Colorado state bird is the Subaru then the state flower is the LandCruiser. Its a state where these rigs actually get really used, as opposed to a place maybe like, say, Florida. Also as part of the Inter-mountain west with killer trails (such as down in the San Juans) and so many areas to camp and explore, I would bet that drives the prices up as well. And the drier climate is less prone to rust. Now, that being said, I pulled my mint 1-owner locked 1998 100 with 147K miles out of Denver myself last year for $7500. I thought I got a killer deal.

...and it's winter. Subarus and 4x4's go for a premium once people get sick of 2WD in the snow....(or impending snow)
Best time to buy a Subaru or a Land Cruiser in Colorado is Spring.

I have uprooted a couple nice 100s and 470s in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area but they go really, really fast if they are clean and legit. Like, better get in contact within an hour fast. Everyone wants a clean rust-free SW desert car. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that would travel from Delaware to snag a no-rust SW Cruiser. You just have to be diligent in your area and be Johnny-on-the-spot.

I get email alerts for anything posted local on CL. Gotta find my 2003 White Unicorn.

I paid 11.5 for a white 03 with good service records and 192k miles a few months ago and thought I got a good deal. I would've paid a couple grand more for 40k less miles, so I don't think the price on this one is out of line. I assume you could probably get it for 14k.

I just bought a 1999 locked 100 series with 134k, 2 owner (2nd owner since 32k miles) with service records for $13.5. But it was clean with the exception of a few scratches. As a bonus it didn't have the faux woodgrain interior. I don't think I got a steal, but I think it was a fair deal.

Been looking for months and the last one that I almost bought slipped away on me. That one was a 1999 locked, with 125k, but had several things that needed attention (steering rack, sunroof, A/C) and it sold for $12.9.

So I think this price is definitely inline for the Colorado market! The good ones go fast here!
